It‘s like Twitter basically, but since it‘s also in the fediverse there is a bit of overlap where Mastodon people can comment on Lemmy/kbin stuff too anyway. Usually they have something like @LostCause and hashtags like #mastodon and so on in their comments, that‘s how I typically spot them.

So their growth is relevant for us, but you don‘t need to make an account there.

Funny thing is my comment was about kbin, I just mentioned Lemmy and Mastodon as an interaction, but that is their main talking point anyway, the other ones was "too complicated" and "looks shit" and some more. They clearly don‘t have any understanding of open source or forking, so I didn‘t even bother to explain.

Also I don‘t even wanna know what ideology spez or Zuckerberg subscribe to, probably something fascist too and TikTok is also owned by tankies basically, anyway no sense in fighting that and I regret I tried, just glad I got this space with all of you to enjoy.

I went to Reddit for the first time this month to speak up in a relevant thread about it and got a bunch of tone deaf replies about they‘d rather join Threads cause "its popular and you sound like crypto bros with the decentralised stuff" and also some "Lemmy was made by tankies" and so on.

You know what, I don‘t care, don‘t want these short sighted people here, let them get screwed a few more times by the corpos if they enjoy it so much.

Not just English sadly, it‘s being translated to German too and so my mother ended up going the same way, it was honestly surprising to hear her rant about George Soros and Clintons and Biden like that when she never cared about American politics before.

I do feel like that gives an incentive to get people of the opposite party into prison to influence the election.

My boyfriend joined, but he‘s only using it a little bit and mostly still on Reddit. Though maybe me sending all my memes and stuff from here will eventually get him to come here more.

The rest, no, they are the types to use TikTok, Twitter and Instagram, they just want to follow a few influencers/famous people, theres no content for that on here and probably for the best anyway. When I want to write to them I use Signal.

I kinda like the tech enthusiast vibes on here and would like it to stay fairly small, though maybe it will grow eventually to the size of Reddit.

Instructions unclear, all I see up is a cloud of pollution.

Jokes aside, I do miss when I used to live in the countryside as a kid where you can see a lot more stars. If only jobs were there too.

This seems like a meme from before it turned to paper straws and paper lids.

This is why I am hesitant to buy a printer, I‘m still using a 10+y old laser printer. Only thing I miss is printing from Wifi, but hey, I‘d rather dig this thing out of the closet and connect with USB each time than be forced to make an account.

Either you leave or you negotiate together with a union.

Maybe it‘s cause I‘m a woman or maybe I‘m too stupid, but I read 3 negotiation books and tried multiple times with all I had learned and despite years of stellar performance reviews got fuck all (well like 1-2% twice in 2 years at 10% inflation lmao which felt like an insult).

Leaving for another job is what finally helped me out to get the 20% I desperately needed after that.

Rhetoric in my eyes exists mainly to soothe, people want and need positive affirmations and are persuaded by mostly that which tells them what they want to hear, so if you tell them something that they don’t want to hear (like a criticism) it’s best so sandwich it into other positive things they do want to hear (like thank you or a positive voice) to soothe them into compliance.

Now that I read all this I honestly question whether I‘m a bit autistic too tbh, I like it online so much cause I can be blunt or more accurately truthful sometimes if I want without too much negative consequence, but IRL I basically always wear a mask hiding away my darkest thoughts cause I know they are unwanted and will be rejected by anyone but my therapist.

I think I experience a fairly similar reaction with dog barking (it has driven me so insane at times I experienced for the first time in my life what can only be described as "meltdowns"), which for me I have discovered that "action" is my remedy when drowning out doesn‘t work anymore. So I don‘t think you can do that with a kid you need to care for lol unless you get someone to help, but my favourite action is to get up and leave, I get up as soon as I notice it gets too much and go on a walk until I calmed down, usually quite a long one until I find a place without dog barking and can listen to quiet for a bit. Another good action for me is taking a shower (our bathroom is probably the one I can hear the dog the least).
