Prove it. Quit for a month. Then you'll have proven you're not addicted. And by that time you'll also have realized that you don't really need it after all.
Some easy games are Ligretto, Halli Galli and Jungle Speed. Not exactly board games and a very specific category that might not suit everybody, but definitely fun.
Watch out, he's got a foot in the door already.
