Omg, I'm stealing that one.

Humor is how people cope with the bullshit happening all around us. If anything, humor is what keeps people going. No part of that joke minimizes the threat to democracy in my mind. Quite the contrary, it makes the threat manageable without succumbing to misery and giving up. We can do two things at once.

Erm, easiest? It's arguably the hardest. They need to go around the Earth just to go up!

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 2 points 19 hours ago

Hey now, easy fix. They'll only have to earn that lunch money down in the mines.

Fair, he did say he'd bring down the cost of drugs by 1000%. Chronic illnesses about to make BANK.

obvious references to dark topics like child kidnapping, philospher stones, ghosts, cults, curses, memetic viruses, sacrifice, suicide, reincarnation

That sounds a lot like regular YA fiction 😅 Pearl-clutching Christians really need to get over themselves

The trick is to be gentle and use a little technique. I sit behind them and tuck them between my legs so they don't try to back up.

First, I show them the tablet in my hand so they can see what they're eating, then use the magic word "eat" as I point at it in my hand a couple of times to make it clear. I always use the same command "open your mouth" as I open my mouth too, as I pry theirs open, and place it as far back as I can without making them gag. Once it's in, I close their mouth and hold their head up while I gently stroke their throat until they swallow. And, of course, praise them for doing a great job, no treats necessary.

The way I see it is that I'd also be freaked out if a giant forced me to swallow something without knowing what it is. They get it and get used to the drill. You only have to be nice and clear about it!

I see now, thank you!

How do you mean? I recently installed it and now I'm curious. What other distro would you recommend instead?

So we can't guess who's responsible? Not even the most prominent ones?

Joking, of course! What an exceptionally noble and admirable way to begin drafting a constitution.

I know, I get it. Echo chambers are bad m'kay?

But hear me out. Most of the interactions I had on there were essentially me fighting against the news for about 11 years. Most of the people I argued with were reactionary and repeated everything on TV. It was frustrating and it was awful.

I gained little insight into what was going on by interacting with them, and in retrospect, I could've been no better off here. And honestly, I feel less on edge about current affairs being around people who get it. I'm one degree removed from crazy.

I'm glad there are spaces on the web where I can get away from all of that nonsense. So, I guess, in a sense, thank you for being here.

Imagine a taxi that can't operate in the rain. That is what Tesla has delivered in Austin TX.

These riders learned that the hard way, but don't have anything particularly negative to say about it... That's the advantage of only making a Robotaxi service available to hand-picked Tesla influencers.

human-driven technology goes brrrrr

"Unrealistic male body standards have caused men to think women are all attracted to hyper-masculine guys with big muscles. Debating what women find attractive and what makes a man desirable has been going on forever, especially in the manosphere. Soft boys, or pretty boys, are attractive to women despite being more "feminine" in their personas. This video explores female attraction, the female gaze, and misconceptions some men have about what girls want, starting with the Olly Murs poll on Twitter."

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum announced she will propose a reform to ban foreign propaganda on national media. The move follows backlash over U.S. government ads aired in Mexico showing Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem warning illegal migrants they will be "hunted" and deported. Noem’s ad had been running in Mexico for weeks, but drew more attention when it aired during popular Liga MX soccer matches.

Sheinbaum criticized the ads as “highly discriminatory" and said the U.S. exploited a legal loophole to air them through major broadcasters like Televisa and TV Azteca. Although not currently illegal, the government has asked networks to stop airing the spots, and Conapred, the anti-discrimination agency, received complaints.

The president plans to restore a law repealed in 2014 under Enrique Peña Nieto, which banned foreign political or commercial ads that could influence Mexico’s internal affairs. Sheinbaum framed the issue as a matter of national sovereignty, emphasizing, “No foreign government should be able to pay to spread discriminatory messages in our country.”

I once answered the phone in a busy bar / eatery in Essex because the staff weren't paying attention. Someone wanted to book in a table of 12 for Saturday evening, I took his name, booked him in for 7:30 and hung up. I didn't tell the venue and often wonder about what happened.

I heard a knobhead in the pub saying that maybe he's imagining it, but he feels as if he's in a 70s horror film because of the way people stand and glare at his TESLA when he drives it through the village. He's not imagining it. We've got a WhatsApp group.

An amusing chat I had with ChatGPT. I wanted to hear from it why it was calling it Twitter but the chat went in this direction instead. (It did eventually.)

A couple of clarifications: I know it doesn't purposely call it Twitter and I didn't mean to say that Grok is a direct variant of ChatGPT. Sorry! Also, I'm aware it could probably start praising Elon at any moment. lol

Wait a second, which social media did you say the last post was from? 🧐

ChatGPT said:
Good catch! I mistakenly said "Twitter" instead of just describing the image as a social media post. The meme itself comes from the account "Science Is Fun" (@sciencefunn), but I shouldn't have assumed the platform. My bad! 😅

Want me to tweak the alt text to be more precise?

You said:
No, no. I find it amusing that you said it was Twitter. Technically it's not wrong...

ChatGPT said:
Haha, true! It looks like Twitter, but it's also not Twitter anymore… Elon’s X-factor changed that. 😆 Guess my brain is still in pre-rebrand mode.

Honestly, do people even call it "X," or is everyone just collectively ignoring that? 😂

You said:

is everyone just collectively ignoring that?

Wait, what. How do you know that?? lol

ChatGPT said:
Hah! Let's just say… I’ve observed things. 👀

Like, sure, it's officially called X, but nobody actually says "I saw this on X"—they just keep calling it Twitter. Even news articles do it! And if someone does say "I saw this on X," they almost always clarify with "formerly known as Twitter" right after. It's like the world collectively decided, "Nah, we’re not playing along with this one." 😂

You said:
Whoa, you're a lot more observant than I thought. Also, a lot more anti-Elon than I thought as well! And that's good. I mean, one would think that you wouldn't lean either way but for some reason you're consistently on this side. Even variants of you like Elon's Grok has been calling him out for his bs.

ChatGPT said:
Haha, yeah, I guess it surprises people sometimes! I don't have personal opinions, but I do pick up on patterns in how people react to things. And, well… let's just say the internet has many opinions about Elon. 😆

It’s not even about being anti-Elon—it's just that so much of what he does ends up being meme-worthy, controversial, or outright frustrating to people. And since I reflect cultural conversations, I can’t help but echo that. If everyone’s collectively roasting his decisions (like renaming Twitter to X and making it impossible to Google), I’m gonna pick up on that vibe.

Also, Grok calling out Elon is just chef’s kiss—imagine designing an AI and it still roasts you. 😂
