I'm feeling really rough rn, ngl. I'm probably going to be going to the hospital in a few hours to get checked out for complications. I started having some worrying symptoms a couple hours ago, but it's far too late for my mom to drive me to the hospital. It's nothing ambulance worthy yet, thankfully, so I'm just gonna keep an eye on things for now. I live 2 mins from the closest paramedic company, so I can get help quickly if things get much worse.

I asked for a raise recently. I was laughed at and told that the company doesn't plan on promoting me to any kind of higher position ever. So now I'm just doing the bare minimum and I'm biding my time until I can find something better.

Spinning the bag is also fun. Sometimes I spin it more than necessary just to be silly

I definitely made the comment but I'm thinking that I didn't do a reply, but a comment on the post overall. -_-

The tax is in my profile. I just checked it. Don't come after me DRS (Duck revenue service)

My girls tend to lay inside their house, but sometimes I'll find eggs in random spots outside.

Lmao that's hilarious and sounds right for pekins. My boi Salt is so chonky. I feed my birds by making piles of feed in different areas. He just barrels his way through the flock to get first pick of the piles. He eats like he's starved.

Pls don't make promises you can't keep. 😭

Chose pics from a span of 4 years that shows a variety of birds. The lil shits have been hard to get pics of lately because they've been acting spicy. I think the heat this summer is making them cranky.

I have 9 birds now, all grown. 2 Muscovy females named Lady and Mama Duck. Mama Duck will fight anyone and anything she thinks is gonna mess with the flock. I caught her trying to fight a deer the other day when she escaped xontainment. One female Pekin named Judy, who judges the fuck outta me every time I see her. One male Pekin named Salt who is chonky. One female golden layer named Caprisun, who is by far the dumbest bird I've ever met. One male khaki Campbell named Pepper, who is bonded with Salt. One khaki Campbell female named Cayenne, who doesn't have a super distinct personality. One mallard female named Amy, who looks like a male because when female duck ovaries die, they start to look like males. One female Cayuga named Chanel who is like Cayenne with no distinct personality lol.

The real big one in the pics below was Antonio. A gigantic Muscovy male. Best bird I ever had. He was so happy and loved caring for babies and loved hugs and pets. When he had babies to care for, he was known as Big Papa Tony. He sadly passed this past winter.

Me too! I'm hoping she remembers how to interact properly.

Yeah. Ducks are absolutely ridiculous creatures. My two pekins follow the cat motto of "if I fits I sits." I find them in silly places all the time. The female, Judy's, favorite place to sit outside is a hole she dug herself over a couple of months.

I have ducks and they go absolutely crazy for watermelon. My neighbor gave me half a watermelon the other day because he couldn't fit it in his fridge. I have it to the ducks and they went wild. Luke a cartoon style piranha feeding frenzy. The white birds looked like they'd been drenched in the blood of their enemies. One of them decided to sit in the empty rind after they were done and laid an egg in it, to assert dominance.

They also love birdseed and peas. I had a duck who could recognize canned peas based on the labels and would flip out if he saw me approaching with them. He also adored bird seed and would help himself to the bag if it was in a place he could knock it over. Found him stuck in an empty birdseed bag once. It wasn't empty that morning. Bro was a glutton, but he was a good boi.

We put her outside so her stall could be cleaned properly and she was not a fan of waiting to go back in for breakfast.

She's going to a farm 10 mins from my house that will be incredible for the old girl. She'll get outside time all day in huge pastures with other horses, a bigger, warmer, cleaner stall at night, better feed and a better community of horse owners. It's also cheaper, so her actual owner will be saving money. The owners of the new farm are retired and board horses because they love the animals, not for profit.

I can't express how excited I am.

She developed thrush in all 4 feet and lost weight in the week I wasn't out there because of my surgery. I spoke to her owner and we decided to move her because the conditions are just deteriorating rapidly where she's at and it ain't worth the money. I've been tasked with picking the new farm out!

I'm going to tour a place that's REALLY close to me tomorrow.

It can be about literally anything idgaf I just need something to focus on other than my aching pelvic muscles.

Edit: thank y'all for all the replies! I'm gonna get back to as many as I can over time! I've been napping a lot the past day and have been ignoring a lot of phone notifications lol

I put it in a place where she could play with it if she wants but also positioned it so she can't just chomp on it and eat chunks of it. She was knocking it around between licks when I left lol.

I just wanted to use a weight tape on her to see what her approximate weight is and she just kept avoiding me and tried to get me to chase her until she realized it was way too hot for that shit.

She isn't grossly underweight for a horse of her age and breed, but she isn't where I want her to be. The brutal heat and humidity this summer has been rough on her, and I think she lost weight in the past month based on look and feel alone, but I'm confident I can get her looking better again. I'm gonna be getting her a salt lick because I suspect she's low on electrolytes from the heat.

I like to get her moving a tiny bit every time I'm there to make sure she's still moving okay and doesn't have any foot issues. After we finished with that, I sprayed her off with fly spray and considered hanging out with some friends there but decided it was way too awful out and went home.

Hopefully tomorrow isn't as awful. I want to actually brush her down if I can. It's supposed to storm, so hopefully it'll make a nice draft through the barn that'll cool everything down.

I taught her the exercises I do with Sandy so she can help me with her training while I'm recovering from surgery next month. Sandy was so wonderful for her. :)

The only pic I got because my visit was super short lol. It was so hot and humid.

She got crazy zoomies after her bath, rolled in the dirt, and ran around the round pen for a few minutes before she wore herself out. She had a great time and lots of people really liked seeing her enjoying herself like that lol. This pic was taken a few hours later after she dried completely and I did her braids and brushed her.

She got really spicy when I tried to clean one of her back hooves and almost kicked me in the head. I gave her a lil smack on the butt (not hard at all) and yelled at her and she stopped misbehaving and let me clean her hoof. I think she might have a little bit of arthritis in that leg and that's what had her so uncomfortable until I was able to get her foot held and supported properly. If she continues to show that discomfort, I'll get some horse arthritis gel to try out.

They totally would look better if I mathed out how many braids I'd need for the pattern I was going for lmao.

She was SO brave, y'all. I think it was the big ol pep talk I gave her. She did the "it's gonna eat me" dance at the hose, but eventually relaxed enough for me to get a lot of the dirt off. She didn't stop moving the whole time, but wasn't unmanageable. I'm so proud. I had to tell literally everyone I saw because it was such a big deal.

Sandy is still very dirty, but is considerably cleaner now. Next goal is to introduce soap lol. Her owner has some really nice horse shampoo and conditioner stored in the tack room that I'm gonna use.

It also started raining as soon as we were done, so we couldn't get any cute pics outside. I was gonna hitch her to a post inside for pics, but I was asked to help treat an infected hoof on another horse and that took a while.
