Oh I know, it just amazes me how many people are stupid enough not to see right through it.

It shouldn't at this point but it's just so painfully obvious what the grift is.

I saw a little of ben Shapipos reaction to it through a leftist streamer.

It was hilarious. He was literally mad that a core message of the movie is that you can be whoever you want to as a woman.

Thats the slogan of the company Ben, idk why you didn't know that.

I'm a complete idiot, I meant srt files. My brain completely garbled that at 1am, no idea how I fucked that up.

I'm fixing the title, I'm dumb

Pay 54 billion dollars to utterly destroy a platform which gave normal people the ability to effectively spread information about the wrongdoing of the upper class, and which often promoted that very information.

That's why he did this, he knows it's killing g Twitter and wants it dead.

No, it won't. I bring it up in this particular thread for 2 reasons.

  1. I don't like the insinuation that anyone who claims to have problems with Firefox must be bots. I don't think that's at all true, since I've run into multiple problems with the browser myself that I haven't been able to solve.

  2. I brought it up in the previous thread because I think that if people are considering switching, knowing what problems exist is useful. It isn't meant to dissuade anyone, in fact I regularly recommend Firefox to my friends and family. But I don't personally use it because of a pretty major problem, and I don't think it's bad to mention it when the topic comes up.

So long as it gets .srt files I can make it work with plex :D I'll look into it, thanks!

"Other people who have bad experience ces with something just be asteoturfing."

Ivw consistently had an issue with Firefox that I described in a thread a few days ago that I can't seem to identify or fix. Am I just not allowed to mention it?

I'm just getting my server up and running! Previously it only ran Honeassistant.

Now it runs proxmox, which boots 2 vms, one for HAOS and another for Debian. On the Debian vm there is currently Plex, nextcloud, and some -arr apps.

8 also have a separate raspberry pi pihole. I've had that going for years now, I think I first made it 2019.

It's such a potent example of why we need antitrust laws to actually be applied to tech companies.

But our government here in the US is both run by geriatric idiots who don't even know how to use a computer let alone regulate one and also is bought out by these companies.

This is a blatant, out in the open anti-competitive action that is suggested in this article and it shouldn't legally be allowed to stand, but our politicians understand so little about how technology works that they'll blindly accept Google telling them that it isn't monopolistic rather than actually try to understand it.

I fundamentally disagree. These books translated 1:1 for film would make some of the worst movies ever. The plot just doesn't work for the new medium, they would DRAG and get very repetitive, especially the first three books.

HAVE you listened to any of Sanderson talking about his mistborn adaptation? He has been working on scripts for that for a while, and he said very early in that it became apparent very quickly that large changes needed to be made to characters and the story in order to make it work on screen at all.

That's true if ALL adaptations if books to film. You can't just do things 100% the same way.

I feel like a damn boomer but what is this thing for? Is it a replacement for the OS on smart TVs? So, like, you plug this into the TV through HDMI and it does all of the actual streaming?

[–] Landrin201@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Thanks! I'll read up on that tomorrow, though I'll have to do something slightly different as I used proxmox as my base OS rather than unRaid. But that looks like a good stepping off point!
