The thing I always get mad at it is people never examine the fact he’s a part of the defense industry. Yes he’s a hardworking Joe who wants to just be with his family but the dudes job is literally building the infrastructure to make other hardworking Joes in some far away land unable to do the same. I agree with/empathize/understand a few parts of the movie but I have never liked the fact the dude doesn’t seem to understand his job is apart of the system he loathes. The movies does a good job of making a CHUD a somewhat reasonable man with somewhat reasonable frustrations with the world. Even his portrayal of directing his rage and ire at the wrong targets makes sense (sadly a rather real thing), I yearn for a movie that has a the courage to go beyond that.

Movies like this are always SOOOOO close to understanding and portraying real power structures but always flake in the narrative and the seeds of liberalism brake the underlying soil of the film and bloom with the bitter fruit of individualism. He’s a bad guy, the system is fine. I hate that shit

I genuinely don’t know how people who have families and stuff do it. I’m just a dude flying solo and I have enough, but less savings at the end of the month then I did prior to COVID. I have even adjust my spending/saving ratio, but I feel like my coin purse is far lighter than I’d like on the 31st.

I don’t know how people who have kids, a spouse/partner, or anyone dependent on them do it. I don’t know how katz can make it month-to-month getting the shakedown from the market and its cultist goons every month. From the car bill, food bill, energy bill, housing bill, any type of care bill, I don’t know how regular people are making it.

It sucks.

These MEGACORPS can just slam the “we can make more money through greed because the market allows it and literally no one can stop us” button and raise costs for no real reason and we just have say “welp, times are tough” and keep it moving as if this wasn’t done purely out of capital greed and market incentives.

The perversion of capitalism is so mundane, you just have to “cut back” or “budget” or “we will do X next year”. It’s just kinda sad.

I unironically believe we are going to see a lot of full-on mask off racism to pretty much every POC group that didn't vote hard enough, or some slight deviation from the norm. If we see group X vote slightly differently and that slight difference can be used to explain why someone lost, they start saying racist words we have heard since like the 18th century.

It will be a weird blend of straight up racism and victim blaming as well and that weird sort of bold self-congratulating libs love. They will be jerks and feel good about it.

True! State protections are good, and necessary, but in my (uneducated) opinion they insufficient. I think people need both State and Federal protections of reproductive rights. It really sucks they didn't even really try codify it when they had the votes.

It's really frustrating that "Roe Vs Wade" was kind of the last gasp of political engagement. I think a lot of people felt powerless after it was overturned. To me at least it felt like "Yeah, even the thinnest and flimsiest of shields is too much for these vampires, then won't even let us have that". I think a lot of people checked out then.
