Yes, war crimes are bad, but you are a sick puppy, or hopefully just very mistaken, if you think that or any other Soviet atrocities puts the USSR on par with Nazi Germany.

We should always be suspicious when someone starts both-sides'ing Nazis and Communists. Only one side was killing Nazis, after all.

Is this something you really want to "both sides"? Only one side kills Nazis.

It was just easier to get Pixelfed up and running compared to Lemmy. I'm using Yunohost, which has applications for both, but the one for Lemmy isn't working properly (uploading images is broken, for example). In order to install a fully functional version, I have have to go through this whole process of setting up Docker, which I haven't figured out yet. The Yunohost application for Pixelfed almost just works. I had to do some klugey stuff, but nothing major. I'll get Lemmy running eventually, but this was just a small win for me.

Don't you think we already deal with them a lot afk?

Because you look delicious probably.

It would be nice if there was some kind of open Internet code of conduct that could be pointed to as a reason for defederating, which journalists could reference in their coverage.

EEE is definitely the SOP, but I'm not sure how that's supposed to work here. I don't think there are that many users to steal away from Mastodon et al, compared to how they did with XMPP, for example.

[–] Kurt@lemmy.one 3 points 2 years ago

Thanks. I hadn't seen that one.

What software do you use to control it?

[–] Kurt@lemmy.one 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

How do you subscribe or follow a lemmy community from Mastodon?

Oh I mean IRL I would probably react harshly to my wife breaking that boundary, but the worst case scenario is that she does it with someone who's got terrible vibes and just cannot hang.

How do you all deal with complaining? Usually, I try to fix the problem, if there really is one, or deflect with humor. However, sometimes the complaining comes from all directions—my kid, my wife, my parents, my bosses, customers—and it wears me down. I find that pushing back can sometimes be counterproductive with some complainers.

One time my wife had some complaint about how I mow the lawn. I asked her if she ever mowed a lawn and she was quiet after that. Unfortunately, these little victories don't happen very often. What sorts of tricks or tactics should I have ready to get people to pound sand without telling them to pound sand?

...but I apparently had opted to receive payment through Venmo. Now Venmo wants me to set up a business account. Any idea what's up with that?

Here are some more pictures:

I originally posted this in the woodworking subreddit. It's my first real woodworking project. Here's the description I included with that post:

I am happy to report that so far I have not regretted bringing home that radial arm saw a few months ago. I used it to successfully build a small, adjustable bookshelf for my sister's baby shower.

I made it from 3/4" Europly with maple veneer and finished it with Odie's Oil. I glued all the joints with Titebond III. The back is 1/8" hardboard to which I applied a cool looking adhesive backed wallpaper.

I didn't have a dado stack, so I got a little creative with the joints for the legs. I think it worked out because the plys are continuous the same way they are around the mitered corners.

Not sure what my next project will be, but I'm looking forward to doing something soon. My family was really impressed, so this effort felt really rewarding.

Is there a way to shop around for a Lemmy instance based on how many instances are blocking it and how many instances it's blocking? For example, I noticed that the lemmygrad.ml instance is relatively popular, but it seems like a lot of other instances block it. It also blocks a bunch of other instances. So, if there are any communities on there that might be relevant to me then I would be missing out. I guess I could just create an account on a walled instance, but I would prefer not to keep creating accounts. I'd like to just find one instance that maximizes my access. Is the answer to just run my own instance?
