Glad to be here for the first true piece of Lemmy history o7

Beehaw said that they blocked some instances like lemmy.world because they were getting lots of trolls and hateful people from those instances, and they don't have the moderation tools to ban each offending account, so their best option was to defederate from those instances.

Beehaw admins did say though that they were willing to refederate, and I believe are working with some of the admins of the other instances to refederate.

But I also believe that the job of the Beehaw devs shouldn't make the platform that is the easiest to migrate too, but instead should be to make the platform that is best for their community.

I believe this only works on Kbin though, not Lemmy

Why are people so upset about Beehaw being quite exclusionary?

When I first learned about the Fediverse part of the appeal was that some instances would be open, some would be more exclusive, and that was part of the appeal. Don't like how open/exclusionary one is? Then leave and go to a different one.

Defederation is a feature of the Fediverse, and using it isn't some big crime.

Damn, how dare you suggest the use of a feature on the fediverse, shame on you

There is no other way to protest for big subreddits currently. If you completely private your sub, reddit admins will replace you with mods that will keep it online.

The only real way to do it is to keep moderating, but make the content of the sub extremely boring, like just pictures of vacuums

Did the same but in reverse and ChatGPT recommended me "FaithandFitness.net" which is indeed a real website

I think Minecraft had lots of nostalgia to benefit it. If your only history with fortnite was hating it, you aren't going to play it just for fun. But with Minecraft people had nice memories from when they were younger

I don't see what your complaint is? You are on Kbin responding to someone on lemmy.world. Of course that hasn't been perfect, but Lemmy and Kbin have only really had this amount of traffic for like a week

Never really understood the hate for AntiWork, also never really visited it that much though.

I remember some user posting about how their boss made them like barbeque once a week, and a few comments were about how somebody should crosspost it to r/antiwork, and somehow they'd find a way to hate on it. Then when it was crossposted the comments were all positive, sharing how their bosses did similar things.

I hope to never hear "I also choose this guy's dead wife" unironically again
