On the whole site, or just that channel? Because that may be due to channel settings which allow channel owners to hide comments containing certain terms. See "Blocked Words" on:

https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/9483359?hl=en#zippy=%2Cblocked-words

Not that YouTube has a great track record, but forbidding "cis' would be pretty drastic. For better or worse, many channels choose to filter terms like this to keep their comments sections free of controversy.

The same goes for comments about shadow banning: channels filter terms relating to this so that controversial videos (which many Onion videos will be, especially for those that like eating onions) don't end up with a comments section that's nothing but complaints about being filtered, or at least so that the comments section looks the way they want it to. I've seen various YouTubers talk about this over the years.

The joke is that they know it is an egg. The user, somewhat like myself, is clearly trans, and "egg" means something important to the trans community. The extra question marks and the ":3" set the rest of the humorous/teasing tone. The post on here is itself the same kind of subtle meme, with the post text just saying, quite plainly: egg.

I imagine this wouldn't be intuitive or amusing unless you're really in the loop.

~~Nobody was saying it would be. The headline and article are about production costs at different scales, not prices for anyone buying it after that.~~

Hill had calculated a generic price of $40 annually last year, but said the interest from generic manufacturers had warranted new analysis. This showed lenacapavir could be mass produced for $35 to $46 a year, if there was annual demand for 2m doses, falling to $25 at scaled up production of 5m to 10m doses each year.

Oh wait, I missed a line where the article actually suggests this...

Dr Hill’s research indicates that this gamechanging innovation could – within a year of launch – be produced and sold for just $25 per person per year.

But you're right, they won't sell it for $0 of profit. It would be nice.

For sure. But at least those images aren't kept in a secret location where users can't see or delete them. Even if Recall makes this harder, there's a meaningful difference here.

That said, neither one is doing you any privacy favors...

fell flat

Too bad. You'd think humor like that would have wings.

The browser has Adblock Plus built in (which is admittedly not perfect), and I see SponsorBlock listed. But yeah, no uBlock (yet?).

I know this isn't critical to your point (which is a good one), but since tetanus is deadly, I feel obligated to mention that tetanus and rust are unrelated: https://www.discovery.com/science/Tetanus-From-Rust. Make sure your vaccination is up to date even if you aren't dealing with rusty metal.

They did not limit themselves to one monkey. From the article:

As well as a single monkey, they also did the calculations using the current global population of around 200,000 chimpanzees.

That explains Drain, OR. I always wondered what the actual drain looked like!
