Here is a youtube video by some australian socialist shit posters: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BO83Ig-E8E

We Went To North Korea To Get A Haircut

A good deal of relation of hexbear to the DPRK is to underline that being critical of western news is quite important. The opinions about the DPRK vary a lot, but in general the user base thinks a country will never be just good or just bad. They are also aware of violence, i.e. the US having more than 1% of their population in prison (4 million) and a multiple of that in other incarceration/parole settings (and then you often are not allowed to vote anymore!), we do not say that to say actions of other states are not a problem, but to work out standards and to analyze how power of states is yielded.

In regards to the second, communists and working class people are human, we are all over the place, there is no correct distinguished way to be a communist. So it can be both as others wrote. I remember having a Marx study circle with like 10 students, 2 PhDs and 1 - extremely funny and smart guy - who worked in a factory producing Trafos (very cliche I know) and whose parents were communists in South America and fled, and quite a few of us academics were pretty much shutting down the experience of him, cause it wasn't the German academic study circle style.

This site instead would've laughed with him and tried to incorporate the jokes and experiences into Marx exegesis.

Typically I'm a lurker and feel I dont have much to contribute either, but you're all so friendly

That is the magic here, you don't have to contribute in terms of utility. There is no minimum utility you have to bring, neither.

We even are somewhat chill with episodes that break site rules, as long as you chill with the 1 day ban and make your peace. I know at some point having people tell me that was also good for me.

In addition to the discomfort here, we are a very varied group. We have some set of rules, but the opinions expressed are all over the field, that includes ongoing news events, but also older things.

Those kind of differences are completely good and acceptable in a social space in which we try to create a community in which differences can remain. If we would act differently we would lose quite a bit of diversity and quite a few users that often are representing voices and perspectives that you don't hear often in the west/imperial core outside of marginalized groups.

Think how various groups come together for anti fascist actions, there you will have a ton of groups with ideological differences, and how sometimes we celebrate afterwards together.

I for one am happy to have you here :)

Okay quick question, did you apologize for your ableism? When my daughter played with someone and she was mean to them they had to make up, did you?

Using ableist talk like

delusional

does seem that you have do away with your tendency to combat your saneism, too.

Yes, he is. The other high upvoted poster I linked to is in the military. So a prison guard and a soldier were among the two loudest voices to have Hexbear banned.

Is worth a read, it is by a user slandering Hexbear, turns out:

@init@lemmy.ml

Haven’t we learned our lesson about unprovoked wars after watching East Europe for the past year and a half??

@emizeko - not sure if you’re a Russian troll or a poor American doing the real fascists’ work for them–but I’m sorry for you my friend and hope the best for you. If you missed it in my other comments, I’m currently serving in the US military and am very confident that Western media at large is on the money, and that a novice OSINTer could refute the fanfic you posted. Best wishes.

and

Oh I’m familiar with it. My entire family operates this way. It would be funny if it wasn’t so sad. I joined the military due to my parents fears about Russia and China invading or some shit. Now I’m the liberal because I’ve actually educated myself, and here they are defending the very things they were terrified of 25 years ago just to own the libs.

Followed by:

My mother was all into the satanic panic BS and Linin’s words about winning the next war via education and indoctrination of youth in our schools. Dad turned out, interestingly enough, to be closeted gay when they divorced because he was also an abusive sack of shit father.

Good that there was a divorce, but the setting of the phrases so close together is bad for online discourse.

The ironic part is that he is so indoctrinated from his small hometown upbringing that he still votes Republican-only and hides the fact his business partner and co-owner of his father’s ranch he inherited is also his boyfriend, or at this point, common law husband. He still hides it because the small community he lives in would probably not be very welcoming. The funny thing is that, at least before it was revealed he was hiding a boyfriend, he was hugely homophobic.

It took me literal years to deprogram, in no small part from reddit, traveling through the military, and seeing the hypocrisy of modern Christianity. It’s sad that so many will never question the values they grew up with and will turn into the next generation ignoramus.
