No, but my gf did and her phone didn't start making the sound.

And yet my phone is from Hong Kong and I went to Japan and it didn't make a peep.

I buy second hand now instead of playing Apple's ridiculous games.

I recently bought a MacBook 12" 2017 and I deliberately looked for one with 16GB of RAM. Item is in great condition. Battery needs changing though.

2 years ago I bought an M1 Pro 14" (16GB and 512GB), brand new with 2 battery charges for $300 less than retail price.

Only the top end provides value and I'm not prepared to purchase a 16" M3,4,5 Max quite yet.

Until upgrades are $50-70 I won't pay full price for Apple gear. I recommend everyone else do the same. Ton of cheaper M2 products at the moment I hear.

Agreed. Overall, my point is I'm not paying those insane upgrade prices.

If Apple are going to nickel and dime me, I will nickel and dime them by never paying for a new machine again. I have an M1 Pro now (second hand $300 off with 2 battery charges at the time [unwanted corporate purchase]), it's totally fine for my needs and my last laptop lasted 8 years (rMBP 2012). I can easily wait 6 more years and by then pick up somebody else's used M3 or M4 with an upgraded SSD and RAM. Fuck Apple pricing.
