I think the only benefit he will ever get from this is never having to pay income tax again.

What government? It certainly won’t be the U.S. government bailing out this fool and his stupid website. Maybe he can go ask MBS or Putin.
This is insane. Why would anyone want to bail out the world's richest man?
I played it for several hours when it first came out. It's ok. The little bit of story I saw was engaging. I'm interested in the world - more so than Elder Scrolls. The gameplay is what I would expect from a Bethesda RPG. But it's definitely lacking polish.
The thing is there are other games out there worth playing so there's no reason to jump into unfinished Starfield right now. BG3 is sucking up a lot of gamers' time. I'm still working on P5R that's been in my backlog for awhile. The Cyberpunk expansion came out and that's solid. There's a bunch of stuff out there to play.
I will eventually play Starfield because what I saw has potential, but I'm going to do it after it's had some improvements. I don't think there's too much reason for concern. This is about par for the course with Bethesda. It's not like they were ever knocking it out of the park with great releases on day one. There are always elements of their games that draw you in, but it's always been a little bit of a mixed bag. Considering the staying power of their previous games, I think this one will eventually get as good as the others in time.
As others have pointed out, this sounds like a sleep disorder. A healthy person who gets enough sleep should not have trouble staying awake for an 8 hour shift. This can be a serious condition and needs to be checked by a doctor. The good news is sleep disorders - and there are various kinds - can be resolved fairly quickly with treatment. Going straight to stimulants is not the answer. You should start with your primary physician and consider seeing a specialist for a sleep study.
I don't know if that's a fair criticism. I think I first saw something about this thing yesterday. Not much of a marketing push. I had to look it up to see what the heck it is. It seems to have a very specific and narrow use case. I'm sure it's a nice option for people with that need and works well enough, but it's not exactly something the masses are clamoring for. There's similar tech out there and they are sort of niche products. I don't expect this thing to be selling like hotcakes.
They would send you on your way. There’s a show - I think on Apple - called Black Bird about a real life serial killer with a history of false confessions. It’s kind of a significant plot point. Good show.
$23M of the loss is from the first half of this year. There was a $10M regulatory settlement and another $11M spent on "legal investigations", which covers the bulk of that. I don't have the time nor the inclination to really dig into it, but you can look at the filing here: https://www.sec.gov/ix?doc=/Archives/edgar/data/0001849635/000119312523276045/d408563ds4a.htm
They lost $50M last year. I haven't looked at that filing so I don't have a clue what they spent that on besides $5M on "legal investigations" in the first half.
This company is a total scam. It's basically a slush fund for Trump. What would probably be more of a bombshell than the spending is where the money is coming from. It's all but guaranteed that it's primarily foreign money. Probably also some rich MAGA wackadoos buying influence.
The BJJ fighters beat the shit out of boxers. The first PPV event was insanity. It was like the Street Fighter video game in real life. It was a one day tournament where they kept fighting until there was a champion. Royce Gracie and Ken Shamrock were the only guys who could really do well against any other fighting style. Jim Brown was doing color commentary and was at a complete loss for words during the fight where some little karate dude repeatedly bashed his opponent's balls. It was absolute insanity.
Gracie was basically unbeatable and Shamrock was always in contention too. I think he won once or twice in the early years. Nobody knew how to deal with them because they would take opponents down and beat them on the ground. But I remember this one boxer dude came back a couple years later with a sprawl move. That was the first time I ever saw it in UFC. He was avoiding takedowns and getting strikes in. Most fighters were doing it not long after and the fighting really started to evolve. Then it became a mix of striking, takedowns and ground game. Even the BJJ and wrestling guys were forced to evolve.
Nice change from all the recent headlines about layoffs at other game companies. I hope this means they are gearing up for a new game. I’m in the endgame of P5R and it’s a special game. I can’t wait to see what they do next.
MMA. It’s interesting to go back and watch early UFC fights. The fighters back then specialized in one style so you would see these crazy matches like Tae-Kwon-Do versus a sumo wrestler or something. I remember a boxer going up against a BJJ fighter and getting his ass handed to him. There were some really lopsided matches with BJJ fighters or wrestlers.
Back then, they didn’t wear gloves and it was billed as “no holds barred”. I think the only rules were no biting or eye gouging. The matches were bonkers. There was one where some little dude was fighting a big guy and basically punched him in the balls like 20 times until he couldn’t stand.
Over the first couple dozen events, you can see the styles start to blend into what became modern MMA. The wrestlers were taking up boxing. The strikers were learning some ground skills. It was several events in when a boxer was demonstrating an ability to evade BJJ takedowns with a sprawl move.
Early MMA fights are the only thing I can think of where you can witness the evolution of a new martial art that’s practical and combat-tested. You see weaknesses in styles and fighters who respond by adding a new move. You see what works and then other fighters start copying. Eventually, it blends together into modern MMA.
