So if I'm understanding stuff like this correctly, it's R being on the side of big business and user exploitation, etc, but not being willing to actually admit that, and thus, all these bogus 'threatening violence' charges.

I would think you're probably right about getting off of Google to share examples. Only thing about Duck-Duck-Go is that I heard it kinda 'sold out,' recently, and I absolutely have *not* tried to research how true or untrue that is.
