There's more, but this is the full quote where he tries to equivocate the term first:
“The term Zionist increasingly being tossed around as a pejorative, in spite of the fact that it simply means believing in the right of Jewish people, like all people, to determine their own future, is not normal. No one in Canada should ever be afraid to call themselves a Zionist. I am a Zionist."

What a way to leave. I guess he's trying to bookend his, "I am a feminist" speech.

They were not "making the mice transgender".

From the Whitehouse's 6 evil studies list:

Three of them were studying the long-term effects of gender-affirming hormone therapy on the growth of the skeleton, how it affects fertility, and if it changes your breast cancer risk. These are all things that people who are against transgender care use as reasons to stop transgender care. So they were potentially a way for the government to say "no" to this kind of hormone therapy and have some scientific backing for why. (Note: the results of these studies weren't going the way anti-trans numpties would have liked. I'm sure that has nothing to do with it though.)

One is studying (as best I can determine) how GA therapy works, I guess because we don't really fully understand it. This one used "transgenic" mice (scary!) to help isolate the processes. That means they were genetically modified.

There was a very scary one about how such hormone therapy affects the effectiveness of the HIV vaccine. (They made sure to list this one first with its homophobantitransantivax trifecta).

One study they claimed in their list was actually just a comparison of asthma between men and women (nothing about transgender, but it mentioned "gonadal hormones" which is like, so gross).
Edit to add: This one also accounts for over 1/3 of their claimed savings and is only tangentially related to transgender women because of the estrogen they take. It was mainly focused on laying a basis for future therapies for everyone with lung disease.

A bunch of the info came from here: https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2025/03/white-house-scared-of-trans-mouse/

I also read through the abstracts from the studies listed and linked in the Whitehouse press release.

Oh wait, that's not what we're doing here??

That's why agile was created. Because people don't know what they want in panel 1.

Yeah, it requires replacing the "you test the rocket" with "you test the rocket and it fails or doesn't meet the updated mission specifications" and the "you go to mars" with "you want to go to mars"

We can't really afford to do that. I'm not actually convinced we should respond with tariffs because it will hurt us more. They certainly shouldn't be our only or primary tactic. We will have the double whammy of less exports giving less money coming in and less jobs (because of US tariffs), and more expensive imports that we rely on but can't afford (because of our tariffs). Trump is trying to wreck our economy and adding tariffs on US products won't help us prevent that. Our tariffs are meant to be punitive, to get Trump to back down, and I'm not convinced they will succeed in that. He's going to war to destroy Canada and he's willing to sacrifice poor Americans to win that war. We can't survive a tariff-to-tariff boxing match, just as much as we couldn't possibly survive a toe-to-toe fight. We need to be creative and think guerilla (trade-) warfare.

We need to find specific ways to make it painful for rich Americans while not making it worse for the majority of Canadians. We need to move manufacturing back to Canada and we need to find new trade partners and repair old deals, and improve trade internally. Some of that will take time and it still won't remove our need to import from the US, but it will give us a better long term outlook.

Better than sitting behind a keyboard literally doing nothing. I applaud them for taking action.

I guess he's seeing the inside info now? What a fucking tool. He should go to Texas to show his support. Maybe kiss a few babies for good measure.

But what was put in place recently won't do anything for that.

Now that I think about it, we should drastically reduce security going south (even beyond removing what was set up in the last month) to enable smuggling to get around the tariffs.

The point was to secure stuff going south. Who cares now?

Part of the response should be to remove everything put in place to appease Trump. Pull back the new border plan, take away the fentanyl czar, remove the terrorist designation from cartels (and apologize to Mexico), etc.

And I also like Doctorow's idea of removing all the copyright protection shit we put in place to appease the U.S. in the past and anything else we can think of like that.

Yes but what about all the autism. Or mind controlling. Or whatever the hell it is that fluoride is evil for?
