The article linked actually says in every instance it was a double whammy of a concern about caffeine, but that the actual reason was because they did not have bilingual nutritional information on the can.
Jokes on us because in 15 years all the instances alive right now will probably be dead and there will be no proof beyond an archive lol

I was playing on an emulator many years ago as a teenager and I had done nearly everything except fight Lavos. There was a thunderstorm outside, and wouldn’t you know it, it killed the power and corrupted my save file. I’ve start over once or twice, but I still to this day have not actually beat the game. 😞
