Thats just another untrusted cloud service that slighty better than google. The best option is just self-host your own storage service

Just beware to not delete every single thing on your phone. Learn from my mistake that I accidently uninstall google play services. 90% of my apps didnt work

Why not using the api? The requests can also be proxied for more secruity
