I doubt you actually looked up what I'm talking about. Yes, both parties gerrymander, which I agree is an issue. But republican states keep getting sued due to unconstitutionally drawn maps that try to silence the black vote as much as possible

Look up why republican redistricting maps in red states keep getting shot down and sued.

It's not the numerous postal service designations that people are pissed at though. It's the bills that are making my friends flee the state that people are rightly pissed at. Not every republican is an extremist, but the extremists have control over the party and the rest of the party seems completely fine with them at the wheel. Either it's extreme apathy or tacit agreement.

“We wanted to reduce the effect of the membrane as much as possible, since it’s heavy,”

Aren’t speaker membranes the lightest part of a speaker? I’d figure these things would still need amplifiers, would be highly dependent on where you sit (possibly amplifying unpleasant noise if you shift your position even a little bit due to phase), would generate ozone, and they don’t even really sound good when playing music, which means the ANC capabilities of them would be limited in the best case scenario.

I don’t know. Other “whole room ANC” devices have come and gone and none of them seem to work. It’s a great idea in theory, but I don’t know if this tech is any different in nature to just using membrane speakers.

ANC is already used in cars with moderate results, but you generally sit in one spot and there’s already speakers in your car.

It’s such a great show! I wish it wasn’t killed by the HBO/Discovery merge, but each season is kind of self contained, so while the major secrets of the story are still pretty hidden due to it being cancelled, every season stands on its own really well and wraps up main character arcs.

I don’t think you can find it on HBO anymore, but you can certainly find it other places online.

I desperately wanted this movie to be Arcane or Mitchell’s vs The Machines or Infinity Train levels of emotional jabs, but being a kids movie, I think it does a good job.

[ obvious spoiler alert] I do wish it resolved a bit differently. It being a trans allegory, it was kind of tiring seeing nimona be sacrificed in the story to make things better, though I’ll agree the changes don’t seem to go nearly far enough. (people felt bad nimona is dead because they saved the city, but I doubt the citizens changed their minds on what it means to demonize someone different to themselves in general) There’s a shot where people are traveling outside of the wall, but there’s still a wall. The citizens should feel shame over the wall. They should feel shame over the institution that uses violence to harm those who are different. And yet at the end, they’re happy in their little perfect utopian society with a little memorial wall to make themselves feel better with no more diversity inside their city walls.

I’m torn. I don’t want to think this is a bad movie just because of an ending that fell flat for me. I think it is just a bit “safe” for me. Other than the ending, the messaging was great and I loved the comedic timing.

I’m also extremely bitter about how infinity train was treated. I wonder if anything will come of the rumors of a graphic novel or comic book style season just so the story can continue.

Owen Dennis and the studio behind Star Trek Lower Decks. I'm not worried about this show in the slightest. It should be great. I have never played among us, but anything with those minds behind it has to turn out great IMO

Tangent here: Not sure if you've seen Owl House, but they show a tamagotchi-like device in the second season** where you can send little pictograph messages to your friends and WHAT I'D GIVE TO BE ABLE TO DO THAT. It reminded me a bit of Pictochat on the DS. But I know any device that was made would be pretty expensive since it would need wireless even if it wasn't internet-connected. So that means it'd have a high resolution screen to justify the price, which would make it more expensive, then thicker for bigger batteries. It just doesn't seem realistic or even something I'd want in the end with all the upgrades.

I do really miss little devices with low resolution displays. A lot of charm goes away for me when you don't have to use your imagination at all- same with furbies that speak in clear english. There's SO much room for expanding on the ideas of furbies and tamagotchis that hasn't been explored, but unfortunately, I'm not sure if that'll ever actually exist until a group of nerds get together and makes it happen. Being able to fight and collect things and have actual permanence in the game without babying the digital pet constantly would be amazing!

Oh! I actually thought the Furby Connect was another mainline furby, but I honestly didn't find it good looking, so I passed on it completely (I've been more of a tamagotchi person anyway). I think a lot of the "furbies are creepy" opinions are just rehashed fear from the lies that were spread about the first couple furbies. I wasn't allowed to have one when I was a kid because the people on tv said it was creepy because they might have cameras and would record children.

If my parents knew I have a stripped gen 2 furby with a single eyelash on my shelf looking like a skeleton, they'd definitely think it was creepy haha

Didn’t the terrifying Furby Connects of like 2016 have the ability to connect to internet-connected apps and would send OTA updates to the furby on a weekly basis? I think the furby itself was receive-only and wouldn’t send anything, but I might be wrong. I still think it’s fair to say that furby was at least semi-connected to the internet.
