My cope is that he'll end up being Carr/Geno level where he'll get you 9-8 and miss the playoffs every year for a decade of mediocrity, but never being bad enough they don't extend him.

In case anybody wants to watch him

Today's Panthers-Bucs game is crazy important, historically teams often see a bump post firing their coach and the Bucs are not good. There's a bit of a buffer where the Panthers can win one game and still give us the first overall but they have a piss easy schedule and I don't see any chance the Patriots win another game.

The Panthers as well are pretty committed to Bryce Young while I've never seen a qb shitshow as bad as the Mac/Zappe situation in NE right now.

Here's how each offensive drive post-turnover ended

Own 43 - Punt

Own 37 - Tyler Scott fumble

Opponent 40 - Touchdown

Opponent 43 - Field Goal

Own 48 - Punt

Own 35 - Punt

Own 31 - Field Goal

Opponent 38 - Justin Fields Fumble

That is unbelievably, historically bad. Fields and Getsy might be a worse combo than Trubisky and Nagy on their worst day.

So what's your alternative? Just give up and turn the Bears into a soccer franchise? The fact first round picks have a chance at busting doesn't mean you should whine and just give up, besides that picking in the first round is the best method at getting a franchise qb by far. Good qbs don't hit free agency and later round qbs have an even higher rate of busting.

Taking a wide receiver instead of a qb with a top 2 pick would be getting cute

Just a reminder to the people saying to get MHJ and figure out the qb situation later just how little an all time great, if not the greatest wide receiver ever, has on winning if you don't have a decent quarterback. As great as MHJ might be the return he offers isn't even a fraction to as much as if Maye or Caleb end up being great or even just good. The potential return on investment is just too much to pass up with a qb draft this highly touted.

If the Bears have a top 2 pick they aren't even going to consider MHJ, the only chance is if the Panthers drop to 3 or later where you consider him and then a qb later with our pick.

If we have the number 1 pick there's a 100% chance they're taking Caleb unless Fields puts up MVP numbers the rest of the season. He's been too inconsistent for any GM to give him the benefit of the doubt going into his 4th and 5th year extension.

How tf are you supposed to coach Zach Wilson or Tim Boyle into being a good quarterback? Hackett sucks but I feel so bad for Salah. I think he's a great coach just screwed over by bad luck.

Is that how it works?

Goof also fumbled twice but yeah, passing wise he had a good game though his turnover stat is brutal, 6 in the past two games compared to 5 the entire rest of the year

Move up Giants-Patriots to force Americans to spend more time with their families

[–] JeanieGold139@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I sure as fuck hope so, but it's pretty rich seeing the same people who say Fields deserves more time to prove it after 2.5 years declare Love a bust after half a season.

Because it torches the relationship with Fields while simultaneously hurting the relationship with the new qb because we aren't fully committing to him. Fields would almost certainly ask to get traded and the new qb would be pissed to.

That's more or less what the Packers did with drafting Love, how'd that work for them? Their HOF qb left instead of retiring on their team and they burned up Loves rookie contract so they can't even evaluate how good he is cheaply.

Their defense could put the fear of god into the 2007 Patriots offense, ours it will skullfuck

This was Justin Fields prove it year and so far he's failed miserably. Baring an unprecedented second half of the season turnaround, Poles will take a quarterback in the draft with the Carolina pick. The QB position is the most important position in all of sports and Caleb and Maye are both too promising of prospects to overlook with such an awful current qb situation, and with next years qb draft looking atrocious taking MHJ and taking a qb next year isn't an option an even semi-competent GM would consider either. MHJ will likely go to one of the teams that either already has a quarterback (the Cardinals) or one that is still giving their quarterback a shot (LA, Green Bay god forbid).

I'm feeling kinda nervous about our chances at the first overall pick, even Carolina's offense didn't look that pathetic, and they have a much easier schedule than the Patriots.

People here hyping MHJ are just setting themselves up for disapointment because there is 0% chance we get him. This was Fields prove it year and baring the most miraculous mid season turnaround in NFL history he failed. We will be taking a quarterback with the Carolina pick next year, the only question is whether we get Maye or Caleb.

The NFL needs a restraining order placed against Josh McDaniels banning him from coming within 500 miles of any football field for thinking replacing Derek Carr with Jimmy fucking G was a good idea.
