I did have trouble today replying between kbin and lemmy.world and vice versa. Not sure if it also applies to other instances

Replying through my kbin since i can't reply to kbin from lemmy.world right now for a reason:

It's not actually my reddit api pull. As far as I understand the code, in a regular time intervall the newest post and comment are pulled to obtain the per minute data.
Not sure if that info is directly obtained from the reddit api, or if they use a comment/post ID to calculate the difference between each sampling point. Am not that good at coding myself.

But yeah i think that reddit could manipulate that data without issues.

There are some paying traffic monitoring sites that apparently showed a dip of 20% too (Reported here). They also report that the average time spent and session counts went down by 14% and 8%. Since this data is not obtained from reddit directly I think it might be a bit more representative

I just started these charts in the beginning since i was interested in the number per day instead of the number per minute that is reported in the original source.

I don't plan on going back since I just can't condone how Reddit management handled the whole issue, but there is one thing I wonder why it is not a possible solution for 3rd party apps:

Wouldn't it be possible to ask the userbase to just get the API key themselves?
If every user of a 3rd party app has their own API key, they won't have to pay anything won't they, since it will be hard to reach the free tier limit.
And even if a user does reach the limit he can get a couple thousands API calls for just a small number of cents.

Reddit will be still getting the same number of API calls, but it won't be the responsibility of the 3rdparty dev but on each user if the limit is reached

War wohl ein -80°C Gefrierschrank der bereits seine eingestellte Temperatur nicht mehr stabil halten konnte und der Alarm war tatsächlich aufgrund vom Überschreiten der eingestellten Wärmegrenze. Das Problem bestand bereits für 4 Tage als die Sicherung zum Gerät irrtümlicherweise abgeschaltet wurde. Ja der Gefrierschrank konnte noch halbwegs die Temperatur halten und hätte es vermutlich auch bis zur Reparatur geschafft. Aber hier hat einfach eine benötigte Backuplösung gefehlt. Für Universitäten und Firmen gibt es Firmen die Extra Notumlagerungen von Tiefkühlwaren anbieten (auch von -80°C). Ansonsten ist New York eine große Stadt und die Uni sollte vermutlich Verbindungen haben zu weiteren Abteilungen/Partnern die das Material temporär zwischenlagern können (z.B in einem Backup-Gefrierschrank, was gute Praxis ist bei wertvollen Proben).

Bei der Technikerreparatur von solchnen Gefrierschränken müssen diese auch häufig abgestellt werden und abgetaut werden, ein Umlagern wär also so oder so nötig gewesen oder eine Zwischenlagerung in Trockeneis.

Ich bleib dabei, es wurde an der falschen Ecke gespart und kein Backupkonzept ausgearbeitet. Die Proben weiterhin im unstabilen Gefrierschrank zu lassen war auch ein Risiko

-80°C Gefrierschrank der seine Temperatur nicht mehr halten konnte (Vermutlich auf -70°C, da das bei dieser Art von Gefrierschrank ca 30% weniger Leistung braucht).

Ich kenne es halt so dass bei einem defekten Ultra-Tiefkühlgerät (sobald ein Fehler erfolgt bei dem ein Warnton ertönt), Proben in einen Backup umgelagert werden.
Wenn man so kostbares Material lagert, sollte entweder ein Backup Gefrierschrank besorgt werden oder ein Notfallumlagerungskonzept mit einer dafür spezialisierten Firma ausgearbeitet werden. Es waren hier auch 4 Tage Zeit nach einem alternativen Lagerort zu suchen.
Beim Technikertermin muss das Gerät normalerweise auch abgetaut werden wenn es kein Softwarefehler ist.

Der Gefrierschrank wurde aufgrund eines Warntons abgesteckt, der anscheinend regelmäßig auftrat. Also war der Gefrierschrank sowieso bereits nicht 100% funktionsfähig und enthielt trotzdem Proben von 20 Jahren Forschungsarbeit?

only tried with premixed falafels so far, but i usually just put them for like 20 Minutes at 180°C in the oven. just gotta flip them after ~10 Min.

I don't think you can really mess them up too much, it's probably also fine if you use lower heat or keep them shorter/longer in there. you can also just taste them from time to time to see if they are good.

You can add oil if you want, i bake them without though

The battery life is incredible for me (~72h max) and don't think I ever experienced any lag.

I think it is probably only a small number of people that have the battery issues and posted online since the ones with working phones won't post about that. Could be a software issue (Network reconnecting? Battery not properly calibrated?). Anyway this should be fixable by RMA on the off chance that it does happen to you.

I am really happy with my Asus Zenphone 9. The best feature is the long battery life. If i wanted i could use the phone for ~72h, though I usually charge it to 80% and charge the phone every 2 days instead.

The Battery Life was my main buying point, the aux and smaller size were important though too.
It also has an actual gimble for camera stabilisation in the lense instead of the typical stabilization through a sensor, though i guess it is more of a gimmick. I myself don't take that many action shots where this could be useful, so I can't really give any info if it is better than the usual way of stabilization.
Since it is an Asus phone I think it also is pretty powerful and power efficient for mobile gaming if that interests you (I don't care about that).

End of this Month they will also reveal the Zenphone 10, so maybe this might also be a possible phone to check out. I bought mine also directly release last year since I was looking for a new phone around that time. It was bundled with a chromebook that I was able to resell so it was a nice deal in comparison to other comparable phones.
