Sigh.

OK, this is basically bad metrics.

Yes, by tonnage NG produces a lot of co2, but they're measuring gas emissions from both, while coal has non-gas emissions they don't count.

They're basically comparing the worst case NG emissions with the beyond best case coal emissions assuming we forced them to use maximum particulate reclamation and carbon capture and sequestration.

Which is great, but we have no large-scale working examples of that in this country, and this is the kind of BS they spout to get people to let them build more plants with minimum protections then act shocked when we say anything.

NG produces co2, but that's about it, it's the cleanest fossil fuel we have, if they have a problem with that they should push for renewable or nuclear.

BTW, for future lessons, this is modern lobbying now: claim numbers from a solution you have 0 intention of implementing just so they'll let you get started, then do whatever you want once their back is turned.

The moment it's off the ground they parade kids crying about not understanding why their daddies are losing their jobs, making everybody else the monster.

Heaven is high and the emperor is far away.

But not anymore, now the emperor watches you, always, through his silicon servants. There is no freedom from his gaze, anywhere.

Moscow is not the big prize you might think it is

Nobody has ever considered Russia a prize, or at least nobody that wasn't a complete idiot.

It's a festering shithole full of Russians, a nuke would improve it dramatically.

Nobody wants to win a war in Russia, but nobody has to.

Knock out Moscow, the rest of Russia hates them and will fracture instantly.

Is anyone, anywhere in the West afraid of this happening?

It might just be time to shut them the fuck up for good.

NATO: staying in Ukraine would put Russia 'at war' with NATO.

Considering your army can't take Ukraine, this really a fight you want to pick?

God, it really is the Russian religion that they're the only strong ones and everyone else is just so spoiled and weak, as your oligarchs tell you, from their mega yachts.

He would have had no choice, not taking ukraine would have required every country to start arming, Europe would have tooled up, Sweden and Finland too, they weren't thrilled with Russia before this.

Yeah putin might have imagined he'd keep Ukraine subjugated by fear alone, but they were moving to the western sphere ever since maidan, that was unlikely.

Putin was trying to command the tides to withdraw, that's futile, it's all over already.

You're right about why he took Crimea.

He tried to take Ukraine because Xi had finished subjugating Hong Kong and said he'd be moving on Taiwan soon, putin didn't want to look like the weaker partner, and if both moved at the same time they were positive the west would be paralyzed by fear, Afghanistan was already proof the west was weak.

His miscalculation was 2 fold: 1. Xi didn't understand how naval power worked, the PLAN needed another decade minimum to credibly threaten Taiwan, 2. Russia's army was decimated by decades of corruption itself.

We got lucky, if big daddy z took that ride the west would be in a bad place right now.

Russians genuinely believe the only way to prevent being invaded is to invade and dominate all their neighbors as far as possible, for purely defensive reasons you understand.

Russia can never be safe, until the entire planet is subjugated by Russia.

Cultural paranoia as foreign policy.
