I mean, I think it was 5 years ago....

The farm crisis in the eighties made people distrust Washington D.C. and foreign trade.

Oh yeah, I remember the pain in the Midwest from this.

Remind me: Which dumbass democratic president of the 80s made all those changes again?

Because half of them were bullies in high school, that's how they see the world.

As US President George Bush was preparing for his recent "We care" trip to Latin America — during which massive demonstrations of Latin Americans responded by saying "No you fucking don't" and "Get the hell out of here" — he was briefed by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

She told Bush that the previous day, three Brazilian soldiers had been killed in Iraq. To everyone's amazement, all of the colour ran from Bush's face. Then he collapsed onto his desk, head in hands, visibly shaken, almost whimpering.

Finally, he composed himself and asked Rice, "Just exactly how many is a brazillion?"

It's not surprising that apologists for confederates and apologists for Nazis are working off the same script.

Hitler called Jim crow the model that Germany must follow, and the Nuremberg Laws were a direct ripoff .

Black GIs came back from liberating Europe to be lynched for being 'uppity'.

The southern strategy wins again.

[–] InvertedParallax@lemm.ee 11 points 4 months ago

No, that was only possible because of the southern strategy of the 60s-90s, which pivoted electoral weight to the section of our country most enamored with fascist racism.

It's a moot point to debate whether Trump is a Russian asset or not. Either way, he's acting as if he was.

Yes, but we do get to abuse brown people right?

Northern Europe is just heaven.

America will get far, far worse, this is a debt centuries in the making.

America has been destroyed by the politics of the southern strategy.

[–] InvertedParallax@lemm.ee 2 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Thanks, I managed to escape the south for the coasts and now got my family out to Europe.

The monsters are rampaging, and America has fallen to their inhuman rage.

I agree it's not purely racism, it's generally hate of 'the other'.

However, I'm brown, and I the only place in America that I've directly experixed this kind of absolute, all-consuming hatred has been in the south.

White men everywhere else have been quite decent, even rural white men.

But southerners... Hitler wrote about Jim crow in mein kampf as the model for Germany to follow, and black GIs came back from liberating Europe to be lynched for being uppity.

I have never witness or experienced such unimaginable hatred in my life, it's as though it's all they have room for in their hearts.

It's as though they generally felt they were suffering badly, and their only hope for redemption with through causing as much pain and damage as possible to those who weren't their community's ideal archetype.
