I think you could have explained yourself more clearly. Did you mean to say that otherwise in a vacuum, the only downside to blockchain technology is it's ecological impact? I'd agree with that, but nothing operates in a hypothetical vacuum.

What's got some people up in arms is the fact this blockchain is a solution without a problem. It's going to do things that can already be done easily in a much harder way. Which is what most blockchain deployments do. I think you know that nuance but didn't articulate it well in your post. Perhaps that's why you're being down voted?

Just my two cents, and I absolutely am not pretending to have any experience with this. I'd assume so long as the actor isn't negligent or grossly irresponsible they're in the clear. Actors are not firearms experts, and training every actor to be Keanu Reeves/John Wick is super expensive. So whomever is the firearms expert, and whomever was involved with the contracting of that expert face liability.

That's why Baldwin the actor isn't responsible, but Baldwin as producer might be. Since as a producer he'd bear responsibility for hiring and contracting.

I've worked in both, and if precision isn't as important as accuracy feet and inches, and only feet and inches, can be easier. A third of a foot is 4 inches, yay whole numbers. A third of a meter is 33.33 cm. Way harder to measure and calculate on the fly. If anything I'm working on has measurements or tolerances under a quarter of an inch, I prefer metric.

This. This. I used to work on safety control systems for heavy industrial applications and it's this. Once the system is running any changes at all went through a whole chain of people. When the change was being implemented I had my supervisor and their manager checking every line over my shoulder before we wrote it. Then test. Then lock it down with a digital signature.

It's not at all like in college/university where you're making changes to your code over and over. Well it is in simulations but that's long before you deploy it. By the end everyone involved should be able to say exactly what every line of code is going to do. This isn't an intern fucking up, the whole team did, and whomever the buck stops with at the top is responsible.
