I remember back in 2000s 2 or 3 guys were so misinformed that Bruce Wills himself joined the comments and explained the movie industry doesn't work that way. Of course they didn't believe it was him and they ended up being video called by him to "prove" it is really him. I will find that page one day. In the 90s it was common that a famous actor/producer discuss ongoing things with the fans.

Some OSS developers, independent review/news sites get affiliate money to stay afloat. Amazon requires them to state this clearly. Brave didn't declare it and probably stole (replace) innocent referrals. This is level 100 spyware/malware tactic.

They can charge anything of course, it is a free market. It would be nice of them to spare $3 for each purchase as a donation to users current server. A checkbox perhaps?

As a previously paying, licensed Opera user I believe it was one of the reasons they went with chromium. Even Vivaldi (which is the true Opera) uses chromium. Giving up PWA support is another mistake.

Business issue or hardware? If it is hardware there is always help, e.g. high level kernel devs cared about my HP boot issue or NetBSD.

Stealing referral URLs is lowest kind of spyware/malware tactics. Topmoxie which was another for of advanced java app coming with Limewire did it.

Core2duo with Nvidia 9400 does very smooth scrolling once you use Wayland. Yes, Linux of course.

On iPhone you are using WebKit no matter what browser you use. Unfortunately it is the same deal with Firefox too. In addition, Apple isn't forgiving when it comes to their customers privacy and security. They actually "sell" this comfort in their adverts. So it would be crazy if they pulled their windows and Android tricks on Apple.

I had to use a chrome based browser on Android for a couple of weeks since Firefox had a problem. It was like a nightmare. It is common in IT history that worse quality product wins.

Think about MS-DOS. Microsoft also sold Xenix,a UNIX system that time.

In the apps introduction screen, it says it will soon integrate to Fediverse. I believe people are afraid from another, much worse "eternal September" happening. It happened to Usenet. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eternal_September
