Correct. I meant to say nazi, as was mentioned in the comment above and the article. I have corrected my comment.

Russian propaganda.

Anti-semitism inspired by thinkers like Dugin and Prokhanov is popular in Russia.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/feb/25/vladimir-putin-ukraine-attack-antisemitism-denazify

TLDR: Russian ethnic nationalists, don't see Jews as the primary victims of the holocaust, they think of Russian Christians as its true victims, and even go so far to argue that Jews orchestrated the holocaust and/or the war. That's why they don't see a contradiction in a country led by a Jew being nazi. IRC they also recently blamed Ukraine for instigating an anti-semitic riot in Dagestan. Not that it would matter, because propaganda allows people to engage in double-think.

As someone who's pretty left wing, it's very unfortunate because these fossils (and a younger generation who confuse contrarianism with critical thinking) have often infected left wing parties, ensuring they'll never have any influence on government and can be easily discredited for even their most sensible solutions. Communists supporting far right ultra-capitalists and often the exact same people who helped accelerate the catastrophic fall of the USSR.

Why are they supposed to be 'the good guys'?

Why are other middle-eastern countries implicitly considered 'the bad guys'?

What's wrong with holding Israel to the same standards as other MENA countries, China, Russia, the US, the world?

Why do some victims matter more than others?

Why do some perpetrators get villified more than others?

I assume Priti Patel'll be next then.

The government is effectively acting like it's the opposition, while the opposition is acting like it's in government.

The whole thing's a shit show.

TBF I left the UK years ago, and find the country increasingly alien as the years go by. Like a mirror universe country replaced the one I used to know.

I honestly think they don’t have any pull on Netanyahu

They have some pull, but politically Netanyahu is a dead man walking. The problem is that it's arguably not in the US interest if Israel holds elections now. Someone like Ben-Gvir would become even more influential.

A reminder:

Itamar Ben-Gvir ... is an Israeli lawyer and far-right politician who serves as the Minister of National Security. ... Ben-Gvir, a settler in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, has faced charges of hate speech against Arabs and was known to have a portrait in his living room of Israeli-American terrorist Baruch Goldstein, who massacred 29 Palestinian Muslim worshipers and wounded 125 others in Hebron, in the 1994 Cave of the Patriarchs massacre. ... He was also previously convicted of supporting a terrorist group known as Kach, which espoused Kahanism, an extremist religious Zionist ideology. ... Under his leadership, the Otzma Yehudit (Jewish Power), a party which espouses Kahanism and anti-Arabism, won six seats in the 2022 Israeli legislative election ... He has called for the expulsion of Arab citizens of Israel who are not loyal to Israel. Ben Gvir is "widely known for his openly racist, anti-Arab views and activities" ... led several visits to the Temple Mount as activist and member of Knesset, contentious marches through Jerusalem's Old City Muslim Quarter, and set up an office in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood which witnessed several evictions of Palestinians. On 3 January 2023, he visited the Temple Mount where the al-Aqsa Mosque is located, spurring an international wave of criticism that labelled his visit purposely provocative. As a lawyer, he is known for defending Jewish radicals and terrorists on trial in Israel. ... Prior to entering politics, he defended Jews spitting at Christians as a "an ancient Jewish custom". ... Ben-Gvir is married to Ayala Nimrodi... The couple has five children, and they live in the Israeli settlement of Kiryat Arba/Hebron, which is deemed illegal under international law, in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

China certainly 'solved' their Gaza in Xinjiang.

Not that I'm disagreeing with you about the US being shit, but I suppose there's some truth to the idiom that a drowning man will clutch on to a straw.

No. I asked a genuine question.

You claimed:

western nations are falling over each other to deliver military aid to Israel,

I asked:

Other than the US and perhaps the UK, which western nations have given significant military aid to Israel recently?

To which you answered the UK and Germany. My initial google suggested all that Germany has sent are 4 combat drones which were already in Israel but being used for training, which is why I asked you to backup your claim.

So to be honest, given I couldn't find anything to support you claim, and you didn't provide anything to source your claim, it sounds like you were talking out of your backside.

Other than the US and UK.

Google says Germany's providing 4 combat drones which were already in the country.

Hamas doesn't have nukes, unlike Russia. That's the only reason the US has tried to avoid rapid escalation in Ukraine.
