7 and 3/4 inches is (roughly) 20 centimetres.

Why not use 10 inch increments or even 6 inch increments if you're making a site for an American audience?

It's like car sites and manufacturers which list the 0-60 time, but it's actually the 0-62.14 time.

If you're going to use imperial, use imperial. Don't do a half assed conversion from metric.

I am also available if anyone wants to listen to a rant about ecoflush toilets.

You laugh now, but just you wait. If it turns out they've created a hyperintelligent waifu/husbando, this will inevitably lead to plummeting birth rates and the end of human civilisation.

Not your fault, but that is the most annoying calculator I've ever encountered, as someone who uses the metric system.

I mean, what kind of maniac describes the amount of oxygen produced in pounds?

Also are those US gallons or UK gallons?

The increments used for the circumference of the tree is also incredibly weird, 7 and 3/4 inches? Really? Clearly converted metric to imperial. Why not include a slider to switch to metric, if that's what you've based your numbers on?

Almost impossible in a democracy.

Eg. In 2004 the far right Vlaams Blok in Belgium was effectively shut down following a ruling convicting it for racism. It's likely they undermined their own case, because being convicted was electorally advantageous for them.

They then almost immediately started a new party called Vlaams Belang, which no longer said the quiet bits out loud, pushing the whole "Free Speech" narrative really hard. This new party is now stronger than Vlaams Blok ever was.

Yeah. English speaking media are used to first past the post political systems, where the largest party wins it all. That's why they're more alarmed than they should be, although it is a very worrying sign for Europe.

You do have a point, but one caveat is that far right parties also often pretend to be more moderate than they actually are and not say the quiet bits out loud until they gain power.

One thing that should be noted, is that Europe's far right and right wing populist problem pre-dates Trump. Often by decades.

Vlaams Blok (later Vlaams Belang), the Freedom Party of Austria, Lega Nord, the UK Independence Party, Law and Justice (Poland), Fidesz (Hungary), Front National (now National Rally), Alternative für Deutschland, etc.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_dilemma

The idea that the only options are defense spending or universal healthcare is a fallacy. It's a false choice. Common in propaganda.

In reality most (if not all) developed countries spend significantly LESS on healthcare than America. So if anything, having (near) universal healthcare would leave MORE money to spend on war.

In other words, America doesn't need to choose between military spending and universal healthcare. Certainly, you don't need to choose between supporting Ukraine (which might as well be a rounding error) and healthcare. America can choose to support Ukraine, maintain a huge defense budget, have universal (and superior) healthcare, and SAVE money.

The reason you don't have universal healthcare, isn't defense spending.

It's partly corporate greed and corporate influence.

It's partly an ideological choice.

It's partly American voters, voting against their own interests, because they've been lied to. Like you've almost certainly been lied to about healthcare.

Perhaps ask yourself who stood to gain from you thinking this was a binary choice.

I know, I know. But American passport, American degree, America company.
