If politicians threaten Saudi Arabia's interests, they cut production just before an election, and dumb voters blame the government trying to curtail their influence.

So you can blame western governments, but western voters are just as much to blame.

For a while, I thought he might be a pro-Palestinian troll, but you're almost certainly right that downpunx is 100% serious.

They're clearly not well. People should downvote and move on, rather than feed the troll. Even negative attention is still attention.

a place where they are forced to go, and then people hold them to a behaviour standard that they never agreed to.

You are correct. School does prepare children for adult life, employment and responsibilities.

How would you know?

Not everyone who's rich, dresses like Richie Rich. Plenty dress down, dress frugally or simply don't give a fuck about impressing diners in a chain restaurant. Hell, I used to work for a bank, and some of our richest clients looked borderline homeless.

I mean, you can dress like Zuckerberg for 50 bucks. Sure, his boring ass t-shirts actually costs a few hundred, but you wouldn't be able to tell unless you took a really close look. Old money also loves going under the radar.

People who think it’s high-class, are not actually high-income.

Trump likes his steak well done with ketchup and his bathrooms gold plated.

Zuckerberg pays hundreds for crappy grey t-shirts.

The richest man in the world is a twat.

Wealth, class, and discernment are not synonymous.

Cunts are still running the world.

Risk reduction. Safe choice.

The food will be ok, there's a relatively small risk of food poisoning, or having an especially shit meal. You know what you're getting.

Same business model as chain hotels and blockbusters starring A-listers with name recognition. Customers know it will be just ok, but that's enough.

A democratically elected government signed an exclusive contract with a private company. This worked just fine for years.

But now a foreign company wants the democratically elected government to make an exception for them, so they can circumvent labour unions and undermine the labour rights enacted by a democratically elected parliament.

Ignoring the legal merits of this particular case, it's bad PR and very bad politics.

Don't be too surprised if, over the coming months and years, Tesla and Musk's troubles with authorities and unions across the EU keep mounting up and that suddenly no one cares to give them the benefit of the doubt or interpret the rules anything but strictly.

That and you can expect them to reduce oil production in the run up to the election.

Go back to antiquity. Today's action heroes look like henchmen compared to an average statue of Zeus.

That comment is incredibly high on the Sapho and her Friend scale.

Of course hypermuscular comic book characters and a ripped Hugh Jackman aren't just male power fantasies. They're also men being objectified for men.

How can someone be so oblivious about how blatantly homoerotic comics and some of these 'fitness' magazines are?

[–] Hyperreality@kbin.social 8 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

It's almost impossible to become as muscular as many of the swolemodels(tm) you see online, without years of intensive exercise and/or drugs/steroids. A lot of it is also in large part genetic, especially stuff like a defined six pack.

And even if by some miracle of genetics, steroids, lack of injury and enough free time, they do somehow manage to become very muscular, it will still not be enough because they will inevitably run into an absolute beast who puts them to shame.

Which is part of the business model. Fitness influencers roided up to the gills, selling insecure young men overpriced creatine adjacent supplements that, although useful, will never allow them to make the gains they want.

People seemed to care a lot when they thought it was Israel's fault.
