They're also working on properly federating wordpress. That's probably a bigger one.

When adults talk about education, they always think back to when they were in school. Often years ago. Often you'll get someone who brings up that Socrates quote where he complains about the kids being lazy.

But it really is different. Covid, lockdowns and omnipresent social media have changed things. Childhood mental health issues and suicides have spiked in many countries. Sure, that's partly down to increased diagnosis, but you'd expect suicides to go down if we were diagnosing more of them.

When I was a teacher until quite recently, I had kids recording tiktoks in the middle of lessons. When you called them out on it, there'd be physical altercations. They'd have panic attacks. They'd listen to music during classes, then get upset when you told them to switch it off. Throwing literal tantrums, crying because you asked them to switch off their phone. Complaining about not being able to listen to music during a test, that kind of thing.

A teenager who knows the rules, and knows to hide their phone? Normal behaviour. Healthy even.

A teenager who doesn't hide their phone, and cries when you take away their phone? Not normal behaviour. Immature. Maladjusted.

They're not all stupid. Some of them are cunts.

Once they kill old reddit, which they likely will if they're truly worried about data scraping by AI companies, it's over.

For those wondering: redgifs, which was started after snapchat banned nsfw content on giphy, is now owned by a different company.

More likely they bought it to shut it down. Probably cheaper than allowing a potential competitor to survive.

That's what a lot of companies do.

For those wondering: Macron isn't running for re-election. Le Pen has stepped down as head of Front National and isn't either.

You're now more informed than 90% of people commenting on this story over on reddit. I read the comments over there and cringed.

Half of reddit is screenshots of twitter posts and reuploads of snapchat videos.

They may claim it's their intellectual property, but it isn't.

It's your data, you have the right to delete it, you have the right to amend it, you have the right to repost it somewhere else.

After making the floor/walls flush with the existing shower, I'd either:

  • use pvc glue to construct a pvc cover/box out of (relatively thick) white pvc sheet and corner profiles. Bolt cover to wall/floor. Use a rubber seal(thick white PTFE tape?)on all edges of the box to make it water tight once you clamp it down. (this is assuming you don't have a vacuum former, access to a 3d printer or are unable to find something to cannibalise)

  • tiled/grouted corner box with a little door. Tile door, thick white rubber tape and bolts to ensure it's a tight seal.

  • leave the pipe exposed, but replace the ugly industrial valve with a nice chromed (and therefore largely rust resistant) one like this.

To be honest, I'd go with the last option, but pop some extra silicone around where the pipe comes out of the wall/floor. That's another likely weakspot for rust.

The tiled concrete solution isn't bad, but I don't get whoever made it cheaped out on the valve.

e: oh and if there's the option to install the valve in the basement or somewhere else, I'd 100% go that way and remove this valve entirely.

If Europe celebrated no longer being held responsible for everything that goes wrong in the UK, we'd do it on the 31st of January.

But we don't. For the UK brexit is one of the most important and monumental decisions it's ever made. For Europe it was a Thursday.

I think Mastodon should limit the amount of toots you can read in a day to 44 billion.

You can also use kbin to read, comment and boost mastodon 'toots'. That's what I do anyway.
