Everything dies.

Most people are good or try to be good, and assume the best of others.

That is a mistake when dealing with the police.

But that is a moral failing of the police, not the uneducated public, who have been taught to trust them.

Alcohol also often works.

It's a small sub.

That they're being threatened at all is pretty pathetic.

I really hope so, but I'm not optimistic.

I don't have a facebook account either, but a large amount of business only have facebook pages and not their own webpage, which are now all hidden behind a login wall.

It's annoying when it's a tyre shop. But all too often twitter was/is the best way to contact government agencies and get a fast response. Eg. I had a tax issue, my country's tax agency has an account on twitter, you tweet them your problem, they reply.

The sentiment that ex post facto laws are against natural right is so strong in the United States, that few, if any, of the State constitutions have failed to proscribe them. ...The federal constitution indeed interdicts them in criminal cases only; but they are equally unjust in civil as in criminal cases, and the omission of a caution which would have been right, does not justify the doing what is wrong. Nor ought it to be presumed that the legislature meant to use a phrase in an unjustifiable sense, if by rules of construction it can be ever strained to what is just.

Painting a small black dot over the front facing camera caused me issues on my previous phone, so I suspect some cameras cheap out on the proximity sensor and use the camera instead.

It's often also used to detect if you're holding it to your ear, which allows the phone to switch off the screen when you're in a call.

Stopped taking my phone everywhere, leave it in a closed drawer when I'm not using it.

you have to DELETE Instagram to fully delete your Threads account, is absolutely ridiculous.

TBF if you're deleting threads for privacy reasons, you'd have to be a moron not to delete instagram too.

Sounds like it's time to post that Sartre quote again. It's about anti-semites, but you know, if the shoe fits...

“Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.”
