You thought you were smart to correct what you thought was a mistake. You were mistaken, because you're less smart than you think you are, and not smart enough to know that you don't know that much.
Rather than admit that you're less smart than you think you are, you've doubled down and become rude about it.
Vanity, it's the devil's favourite sin.
Obviously, it's pathetic. We've all been there, but you really should learn when to walk away rather than doubling down.
TBF at this point the tories think the tories have gotten worse under the tories.
It's like woolworth's employees sticking around to the final day, so they can continue to steal sweets from the pick n mix.
I think she's too old to run rather than walk.
Democracy. Everyone gets a vote, which leads people to think everyone's opinion is equal.
Insecurity. People don't like feeling shit about themselves. It's easier to find excuses to hate someone you suspect is better than you, than accept the sad truth that you're less than them. We're all narcissists to a degree.
A lot of people fluctuate between narcissism and self-loathing.
Vanity. It's the devil's favourite sin.
Rogue.
Rouge nation is an excellent name for a make-up company that specialises in red/pink cosmetics.
Here's one I'm tempted to get:
A gold ring with a pink sapphire shaped like a penis.
There's a non-zero probability that Riker's fucked a chair, that's for sure.
The klingon/human dichotomy is fascinating.
In many ways humans and klingons are quite similar, it's just that what klingons think of as strengths, humans often think of as weaknesses, and vice versa.
A klingon will brag of how many people they have killed, but be too ashamed to admit to avoiding war.
In the star trek universe, humans are proud of solving problems non-violently through diplomacy, and are often ashamed of having to use violence.
Leads to a lot of misunderstandings and conflict. It's only with time that the klingons learn that humans (and the federation) are capable warriors and far less weak/meek than they initially appeared. Once they realise this, it's inevitable that the relationship between the two thaws, as they learn to respect each other.

My father was an environmental scientist, I grew up reading New Scientist. The science is far less optimistic that you want it to be.
It's not that hard to believe.
You have to remember that many politicians aren't true believers. From gay men who run on a 'family values' platform, black men or people in interracial relationships who run on a (borderline) racist platform, rich ultra-capitalists who pretend to be men of the people and promote populist crap, ultra conservatives who are privately quite liberal, highly educated people who pretend to be morons, city folks who pretend to be cowboys, those who run on a green platform while privately investing in fracking from the comfort of their private jet, those who promote conspiracy theories they find stupid, those who hate the people who elect them, etc. etc.
Just like someone on QVC selling overpriced watches, it's their job to pretend the product they're selling is the best option for those watching. When the cameras are turned off, even the more extreme ones inevitably drop the act and act more like normal human beings.
It's deeply cynical, it's caused damage to democracy, but it is what it is. It's like pretending to like arseholes if you're a waitress, except you get paid more.
Sorry to necro this thread, but I continued watching and although the show was interesting for a while, it then declined sharply and arguably went off the rails again. A lot of drama and stuff like that. Don't think you'll enjoy it if you're a fan of the original books and read them recently.
