I have a similar issue with headphone cables failing, often far too soon, but I get that too. It's wear and tear from being yanked and moved. They're also often cheap headphones. But I've had apple cables disintigrate when stored in a cupboard and not moved at all. It's like they're biodegradeable.

I suspect they're using a softner which degrades the plastic over time. Their cables are softer/more bendy than cheaper/stiffer plastic cables.

But for the price they charge, I don't see why they couldn't make them fabric covered. You can buy fabric covered cables for really cheap online, and they ship them half away across the world and still make a profit. Why can't apple do the same?

I had constant issues with cables when I was still an apple user.

Loads of plastic rot and scarily browning cables.

I honestly don't get it, given the cables on my commodore 64 are still good as new 40 years later.

police running deceptive speed traps.

Here's the thing with speed traps.

Turns out that after people have been fined a few times, they suddenly do feel that 20mph roads are 20mph roads.

Almost as if they knew the road was 20mph all along, but decided to ignore the clearly marked speed limit (and often the speed limit warning on their satnav) because they hadn't faced any consequences for it before.

Also:

And it's not just a US problem. Oganised crime often infiltrates or corrupts police forces, even in developed countries where the police are paid relatively well and trained properly unlike in the US.

Pro-tip: Sometimes fucking the police also pays.

That's the good thing. AFAIK most tanks are plastic nowadays.

Although I tend to agree, I think this was also the correct decision. He would have distracted from the good work the organisation does.

You telling me to silence my siren is censorship. I'm using it to voice my opinion.

I thought you said that you were against all forms of censorship.

And yet... this meme popped up in my feed despite not being subscribed to linuxmemes. So there are still plenty of snobs.

It's normal human behaviour. From vegans, iphone users, xbox gamers, ford owners, owners of automatic watches being snobs about quartz watches, ...

Still annoying and unwelcoming for outsiders though.

Always resist censorship.

Can I follow you around with a siren that I turn on every time you attempt to speak?

I edited it. Not used to talking about this stuff, so I forgot the newer term.

To be clear, I used XX as an adjective. As in some women are fat, some are thin, some are French, some are XX, some are XY, some are American. I didn't mean to suggest otherwise or cause discomfort

But now I think of it and if I'm not mistaken, there's also non-trans XX men and non-trans XY women. So besides not using less offensive terminology, I wasn't technically correct either. Some XY women aren't trans. AFAIK it's possible to be cisgender and non-genderconforming. It's all very confusing, nature's like that and always has been, despite most of us being taught to think in binaries from a young age.

I'm rambling. I'm going to go away now. TLDR: ignore the dickheads.
