Chinese manufacturers are doing well in the European market too. It's a genuine worry for traditional manufacturers who have failed to innovate for too long.

Geely's another big one. They own Volvo but also produce cars under the Lynk and Co brand. Have good lease deals in the Benelux. Then there's Nanjing Automobile. Own MG and make a quite good (and very affordable) range of electric cars.

Honestly, I'm also sceptical, but if I buy a new car it's likely to be an MG 4 based on glowing reviews and affordability.

The guy who owns Mueller dairy has ties to the far right? Good to know which brand I'll be boycotting from now on. Seems like this should become a larger story, given they sell Muller products outside of Germany too.

Mein Deutsch ist schlecht, aber gab es auch nicht frueher ein Gerucht dass Müllermilchs Inhaber die NPD unterstützt?

He was at the tory party conference dancing with Priti Patel. He withdrew brexit party candidates in tory seats. Rishi Sunak has said he'd be welcomed into the party. Jaco Smogg mentioned a red carpet. He's popular with the base.

But I doubt he'd ever manage to become an elected MP. Suspect kingmaking and meddling is more his style. Far less work and you don't actually have to get your hands dirty.

Senator, lecturer, civil rights lawyer, spoke out against Iraq.

Not that accomplishments matter that much. Obama had charisma. Harris not so much.

Do you think posting a link to middle east eye makes you seem more or less biased?

They've previously been accused of having ties to Qatar and bias in favour of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Did Starmer say that Israel should be allowed to break international law? Or did he say the opposite?

It was a concept car.

I don't get why they can't just make the thing out of aluminium and paint it a metallic silver. It'll look just as nice if not better, be cheaper to make, weigh far less, and consequently have a longer range and/or require a smaller battery.

It's such a dumb hill to die on.

So you're saying we could weaponise a stapler. Message received.

Arguably their position isn't even really about migration. It's just domestic politics and populism.

My prediction:

  • Either SA has intel that Hezbollah is going to escalate and current conflict is going to expand.

  • It's very unlikely that SA would push ahead with the deal with the US/Israel. If they did, it would be because they felt they felt they need security guarantees asap due to Iran escalating. This would make Saudi citizens potential targets for reprisals.

  • Least exciting but not improbable explanation is that they'd rather be overly cautious despite there being no new intel. They're simply preparing for the seemingly inevitable ground offensive into Gaza.

Not just Israel and western governments that have accused them of an Islamist bias. The Palestinian Fatah party has also previously accused them of bias towards Hamas. At one point they closed down Al Jazeera's offices in the West Bank.

The English language version is apparently less openly biased than the Arabic version.
