Nope. Just because a majority disapprove of an idea. Is in no way a reason for that idea to be removed from view.

On the other hand. If parent wants to prevent their children from being exposed to an idea they disagree with. Then those parent need to be with the children and monitor the books they read or select from a library. Just like the internet.

They do not get to enforce their censorship on the children of parents who do not worry about such simple ideas. Even if those parents are a minority.

Hiding ideas from view. Is just confession that they lack the ability to effectively argue against it.

Added to idea they recognise very simple geometry

The fact they communicated the idea to at least 11 Wales. Then openly demonstrating this fact to humans.

Is way more sci fi plot like. Sounds very like a star trek tng plot idea. Alien sludge creatures trying to prove to another race. That they are more then lighting oil to be killed and sold in barrels.

Or

Hey those killer Wales. They are only giving you fish. So you trust them close to your boats again.

They plan to leap into the small ones and capsize you. Then they will present us with monkey hats.

Labour plp and the leadership. Who is at the end of it who you vote for.

Is not in any way left wing anymore. The shit their doing is more blue then red.

The members may be broad. But the party no longer pay any attention to them.

[–] HumanPenguin@feddit.uk 5 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

Sorry. But if you plan to vote labour next election. You are not a red voter.

[–] HumanPenguin@feddit.uk 1 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

It is.

But honestly it can only be no better or better. Live cows are very bad for the environment. Growing plants is pretty bad even without feeding it to cows. Plowing releases huge amounts of co2 while chemical weed killers destroy rivers etc. one has to be done to grow food in a land efficiency manor.

So again it's hard to argue lab meat is worse as even high energy cost has renewable and low pollution based options farming dose not. It's just if society bothers to implement such tech.

[–] HumanPenguin@feddit.uk 5 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

clearly being opposite to what the majority of us want.

Not actually disagreeing but. I'd be interested to see evidence of that. As I think it depends on age.

Most over 50 grew up thinking of hamas as terrorists that kidnapped and held UK and other prisoners for over a decade. It was a huge element of 80s news and hugely influenced the media daily.

As such their ideals and pre internet news will have influenced at least 40 plus year olds.

You are likely to find the majority is hugely against these actions under 40. As these people very much depends on the internet for news. Older UK folks literally grew up with little or no ability to see non UK news.

So around 40 plus it likely scews further and further to the mainstream medias opinion. Reinforced over decades of UK media and negativity towards hamas.

Add to that the age group not only most likely to vote. But most reliable on their party support when voting.

Add under 40 as a political force really only include 18 to 40. As those that cannot vote are ignored for most political desiions unless their parents agree. And then it really is the parents opinion that is counted.

And the government choices seem less surprising. More so as few of the MPs are under 40 Is it likely the vaste majority of voting public are not opposed these actions. Or even recognise them as genacide based on media views.

Really only 2 questions matter.

  1. Is it as or more healthy then current burgers. Given the issues with processing and health. This should not be hard.

  2. Are people willing to pay The costs needed to provide it.

No other questions or opinions really apply. At least not specifically to this burger type.

David Tennant as paddington might be more fun.

Yeah interesting how our first attempt at democracy. Was started by and failed due to. Religious fundamentalism.

Given only wealthy land owners could vote. Hardly democracy.

[–] HumanPenguin@feddit.uk 15 points 1 month ago

This is absurd.

Yes Palestine Action broke the law by damaging insanely expensive property. And like any protest that dose this. The right or wrong of the cause has no effect on the legal requirements of the actions.

CND, Greenpeace and many many other protest organisations have also commited expensive crimes over the decades.

When a government starts deciding what citizens can or cannot support rather the how. It is no different to banning book or speech.

Unfortunately. They need red ties now.

Interview with CRT boss on funding and future plans.

Fund Britain's Waterways is a group of 30+ UK waterways charities unified in an attempt to change the government's mandate to reduce waterways funding for the next 15 years.

DARFA has recently announced its funding for the canal and river trust. Their statement is available on the link shared.

But a fair summary is.

We spent ages evaluating the value for money we get from the UK inland waterway's system. Where we proved, it was a great value for money investment in both national health and our environment. But despite finding no evidence to support the idea. We will carry on with our original plan. Reducing funding by £300m over the next 15 years.

Noticed a couple of people claim to have received comments from icom.

Indicating their engineers are working on an update to allow continuation of supply.

Very happy with mine. Works perfect ad a radio for my small narrowboat.

Will be interesting to see exactly what parts they are having issues with supply of.

I also wonder if anyone has ever looked into creating a 3rd party replacement head unit. Seems likely the main control from head to base. Is a version of CI

If so should be possible to build a simple colour display head. Using something like raspberry pi with a display and encoder dial.
