Wouldn't it just be better to cure cancer? Why don't the scientists just do that?

Who would have a problem with us returning to an average lifespan of 40 years?
Stressful, expensive, hard working and statistically unproductive.
Psychiatrist prescribe drugs not psychologists.
Do you believe in unfettered free markets? Those jobs are very often to implement compliance to restrictions in the markets.

I think this could have worked if the employees being replaced owned the robots. They don't have the capital anymore but when there was a middle class this could have been a possibility.
Answering questions and commenting get you a barrage of downvotes if you deviate from the hive. Asking questions gets you a barage of downvotes. There are a bunch of angry abusive people here that discourage any discussion or debate.
So what if it's a waste of time. Gotta make the 40 hours anyway.
We used to have a rigorous schedule. Arrive at the office between 8-830. Make coffee and chat. At 9am we started the daily meeting. We all read what we were going to do today to each other. By then it was 1130 and so we broke for lunch. After lunch, at 1300 we would do the thing we said we would do. At 1530-1630 we would submit out updates to the project management system and produce tomorrow's report for us to read to each other. 1700 we would go to the bar then head home around 1830.
When I started working for myself I would usually start around 9 to finish at noon, including travel time.
They are out there, in other time zones.
