"AI" has been a very common and very old term used in video games to refer to NPCs that react to player behaviour. It's also sometimes used to refer to bots that emulate player logic to play a game, such as in this CB video.

Honestly, this lawsuit is laughable. James Earl Jones himself allowed his voice to be used to train AI before his passing, and his family has given their blessing on this implementation in Fortnite.
Besides, it's not like this Darth Vader AI is replacing any jobs; it's a chat bot, capable of giving live responses to players across many live matches ongoing around the world. Unless it is feasible to hire a massive team of Darth Vader voice actors to be able to respond to player requests to "force choke me daddy Vader" live across hundreds of ongoing matches while staying completely in-character 24/7, their argument about Epic Games "replacing voice actors with AI" holds no water.

if he's not willing to budge, you'll need to separate the TV from your PC; one has to be relocated to a different room, preferably as far as possible. that plus shutting the doors should be the maximum amount of effort you'll put into accommodating your partner. if that is inadequate, i recommend couples therapy; or just dump him.

It's because the comic strip's style and history didn't fit the story being told. If anything, it was a massive tonal shift compared to previous comic strips in the whole webcomic.
The author was used to the 4-panel comic layout, which was great for comedic setups and punchlines, and didn't know to switch to something more appropriate for such a somber subject in Loss. That's why Loss feels lifeless, rather than sad.
There are so many great ways to add tension and emotion in comic form through panel layouts, compositions, style, and shading; if Loss had employed any of those to convey a compelling emotional story, it would not have been so badly received, even if posted in the same webcomic series.
