If you can actually write in the command line (this happened to me too, but I couldn't actually log in to use the command line), try the command startx to start the graphical environment...or whatever is the equivalent command for the environment you installed.

After college, intelligence is overrated. There are other qualities like emotional agility, friendliness, creativity, empathy, but also confidence, money, family guidance and contacts, that actually make it possible for anyone to achieve great success while an absolute genius with a sense of humor working from his basement with a great idea/product may never get anywhere.

No lemmy, no mastodon? Uuuhh...back to IRC, some forum maybe.

PS: Element looks like a pretty good FOSS alternative to discord and IRC.

That was much better than expected, thanks :) it's like Bach's fugues went down blues/funk, then Mozart stopped by and then some rappers streamed in. Good stuff.

"Don't look up" also has those "and this is why God sent the flood" (aka what is this shit, start over!) vibes.

That's a good way to distribute the storage load, not sure about speed and fetching, but it vaguely reminds me of P2P and IPFS. In the end, it's just a continuum in Ninstances, users/instance, communities/instance, instances/server... https://discuss.ipfs.tech/t/activitypub-integration-with-ipfs/4081

I was wondering what it takes to build subnautica mods and updates on Subnautica II. Found it through the new communities community.

That's already owned by Elon, but wankgoblin is available :D

Yea, but what are they expecting by paying 44B? That every sad twatter sod moves to tiktok? Because we aren't suddenly going to go outside. Anyway, this may become a very special summer for people to experience the great outdoors (or not, e.g. France) if a billionaire buys and shutters a popular platform in a year :)

I don't see why this is a problem (apart from supposedly private data like email), it's not just Google that can do this, all this data is available to everyone for everyone who can use it to benefit. If you want to make Google pay for a publicly available good, tax them accordingly. That's the point of taxes: if you are successful enough to take advantage in any way from a country's public roads, education system, access to a labour market and a functioning society generally, taxing the massive profits from using that system is fair, not enclosing everything and holding access to the content we contributed hostage.

Correct about the reduce and reuse before recycling.

But there is one thing to consider: does recharging efficiency also go down with battery lifecycles? Because that is the main factor in determining whether you should reuse it or not.

I had this impression that the microscopic flaws that cause reductions to capacity also produce waste heat (and from real life dealing with old phone batteries that take forever and heat up when recharging), which you don't want or at least need to calculate a break-even point when recharging efficiency is low enough to send to recycle.
