..seeing the public discover how much of a cunt he is

If they haven't discovered it by now, there's no saving them...

the frog was boilng for some time now

Interestingly, the frogs are actually smarter than humans. Research has shown that they will start attempting to escape as soon as it gets too warm, no matter how slow you boil them.

Speaking of Boost, it's also moving to Lemmy

Tax returns are always bittersweet. On one hand, it's nice getting a lump sum at the end of FY.

On the other hand, I know it's just my own money - that my work has overpaid as taxes - and it would've been so much better for it to be sitting in a high-interest savings during the year, instead of earning nothing in ATO's pocket until I get it back later...

Biscoff is the devil's nectar. If I could have my way, there'll always be an open jar in the kitchen with a spoon in it. But I don't think it's fiscally and metabolically responsible..

Interestingly, the US conservatives have been attacking lab-grown meat lately. So expect similar attacks to start showing up here soon.

Personally I would love to have more alternatives. I enjoy trying out alternative protein sources, not for ideological reasons. I just enjoy flavours and textures. And if they happen to be better for the environment, well bonus!

Has the city been this dead Friday nights since Covid?

Haven't been out in town after hours, since we got married and moved to the burbs a while back. The whole place felt.. deserted? compared to 2018-19.

Self regulation not working

Has there been an instance where self regulation actually works?

"Including super" is such a rort. For anyone taking on a new contract between now and 2025 (when the super guarantee increments stop), PLEASE negotiate for a "before super" contract.

E.g. If you've been offered $80k including super, negotiate for (80,000 / 111 * 100) == $72,072 excluding super.
This means that if in the next 2 years your pay is stagnant, you would end up with (72,072 * 112/100) == $80,720 -- a whopping $720 more towards your super, come July 2025

As an old salty dog, I just wanna say it warms my cold heart that DCC is still thriving after all this time.

You can bind qB to your VPN connection, so that if the VPN fails qB would not attempt to use your unsecured line.
(Sorry not in front of a PC right now. Don't remember the exact settings page, but it's a dropdown with a list of available connections on your computer)

Given the size and reputation of DJI, you shouldn't have any concerns.

I'm sorry, but i disagree with this mentality. The size of a company means nothing. We've had so many security breaches from companies large and small. Be it from malice or incompetence.

And speaking of reputation, this, this, and this doesn't really scream "good reputation" to me.
