My bad, I'm not into cars. I thought this was cubic inches, not centimeters. The energy requirements and emissions are definitely going to be lower for most bikes vs. most cars. I'm glad you're having fun in a fairly responsible way.

I'm not sure I'd call running a 650 engine as a form of entertainment environmentally friendly. Certainly moreso than buying a new car, electric or ICE, purely for entertainment, but you can't handwave away the current or previous environmental impact the vehicle had prior to the $2.5k you paid for it.

Yeah, it's legal to not require people to take vacation time here, but you still are paid for that vacation time, albeit in a way that makes it very easy for you to not have any money during your time off, especially if you're already struggling financially. Our work culture is much closer to American than European, and I'm personally not a fan of a lot of it. But you will either receive paid time off or money in lieu with the option of having unpaid time off.

You will have all your accrued vacation paid out when you leave. It will also be paid out if you don't use it soon enough. At my current employer, you have a little over a year. It is also possible to have it paid out on every paycheck and you have to set it aside for when you want to go on vacation, since you won't be paid then. Here's what it's like in Manitoba, I suspect it isn't very different elsewhere in Canada.

This is an anecdote, but it is also absolutely not speculation. I won't install Epic, I avoid most AAA launchers/required accounts, prefer GOG, and get most of my games on Steam. Epic and many other studio launcher apps are hostile to the consumers or just a royal pain to use. I have a couple Sony games. Why should I have to be online to play a 20-year-old single-player game that I bought through Steam? So now I check if they have that garbage before I buy them through Steam.

I think Steam could afford to charge less, but I don't think most smaller companies could get a basic store up for less than they charge (and the big companies have the tools to determine if thos is saving them money), and that still doesn't get you everything Steam brings to the table, consumer confidence being the most important.

In Canada, it's illegal to not have vacation days or have your vacation time paid out. I've never heard of it happening here because it's so easy to prove or disprove that only idiots would do it. Don't worry, many employers will screw you over in ways that are harder to track.

Here's a link based on data also from the UNDP, but from a couple years later and going back further. Except for a few years around that revolution, it looks like a pretty stable trend, which isn't really damning or praising for the progress under either regime, imo.
