Lenny libs - please tell me how voting for any of these monsters is “harm reduction”?

I'd like to know how - in real terms, not grandstanding and rhetoric - Trump would be any worse for the Palestinians. Like, the only thing the US isn't doing to promote the genocide is to put actual US troops on the ground; and I really don't see even Trump doing that.

I have yet to see someone explain to why anyone who is not a white nationalist, a religious nut, or a capitalist, should give a rip about whether why people aren't having kids.

I think Kiev and civilian infrastructure is going to come under much heavier assault in response.

Assuming the west/Ukraine are behind this attack… why? Obviously no military value. It’s not going to demoralize the Russian people. The only reasonable conclusion I can come to is they want Russia to respond with a heavy hand and hit Ukrainian civilians and infrastructure hard in response as payback.

If that’s the case, I think the Biden admin and NATO country leaders are frustrated with the public’s and political opposition to further supporting the war - whether it’s more money or sending NATO troops. Russia continues their slow advance - just slow enough to not trigger alarm. Get the Russians to hit back hard and that could make it a lot easier for NATO to build support for escalation.

I’m sure it’s not what Russia wants to do, but I think the best strategy is to stick to the plan because I think this attack was done to get them to come off that plan.

This probably isn’t the reason, but it’s possible that NATO actually wants Russia to really start giving Ukraine the business instead of the slow boil, measure gains in daily meters moved thing we have right now. I really think Russia has been careful to not “spook” the west and give them something to say “ah HA! If we don’t intervene NOW Ukraine will fall”. If this is true I think it will come fairly quickly it was Ukraine that did it and they will dare Russia to retaliate hard and fast.

If someone was actually worried about the continuance of the human race, they would probably focus on climate change, super viruses, nuclear war - the things that could actually wipe out humanity. Or maybe if you’re concerned about the advancement of humanity, you would want to make sure everyone on planet earth could get a good education and create opportunities for all of humanity to reach their full potential.

Musk has never implies he wants any of that. What he has done (and often) is use language that implies he really only cares about white civilization, and carefully chooses words that give him (in his mind at least) the ability to “nuh uh I’m not talking about race I’m talking about VaLuEs” or whatever.

Honestly I think she just wanted to be out of the public eye for a few months. Yeah you could just post a quick video and say you’re ok but fuck that, why should you have to. If you’ve said you want so privacy and you’re gonna take some time for yourself, if you do even that you’re not sticking to your boundaries.

I only mention this because the situation with that Chinese tennis player, I forget her name, is almost the exact same thing. Someone famous who basically said “I’m gonna take some time away from the limelight”. That was universally claimed to be an evil CPC plot to the point that the WTA was cancelling events in China. Outside of people basically just making a meme out of this, no one is legitimately suggesting there’s something nefarious going on.

Afaik it seems like something Nixon pushed before the war ended. But honestly, it seems like it carried on, at least through 80s, just because the concept was useful for making financially successful movies.

For real though, I did think to myself last night “what one thing could Biden do to get my vote?”

The thing that crossed my mind would be if he completely lifted the blockade on Cuba. It would cost nothing and would be popular with the left but also with a lot of liberals (there are quite a few libs who are not down with communism but still think the blockade is cruel and should end). Biden’s gonna lose Florida anyway, might as well just do it.

But ultimately, there’s still the genocide, and that is unforgivable.

Michael Jordan, despite being possibly the greatest athlete of all time, is an absolutely miserable person. He spent his HOF trashing the people who thought he wouldn’t make it. He is competitive to the degree that it ruins his life. But also probably made him great.

In one of the Steve Prefontaine movies, they show a scene where a girl he likes brings a bunch of little kids to the track (I think she’s a teacher). He starts playfully running with them. As they get towards the finish line, one little kid darts ahead of him. He immediately starts sprinting to make sure he crosses the finish line first. Teacher asks him why he did that and he said he cannot let anyone - even a small child - cross the line before him.
