I briefly looked into Eastern Orthodox Christianity in my deconversion process. I liked some aspects like how they view heaven/hell and in general they seemed pretty level headed but I never really explored them any deeper, I assume there’s plenty of problematic aspects with them too.

Inside the U.S. Army Plant Making Artillery Shells for Ukraine

Give you one guess where the plant in the article is located (hint: same-picture )

The article never says it explicitly, but it sounds like the only places where the 155mm shells are made is here and maybe in Wilkes-Barre.

Edit: based on the math in the article, this Scranton plant manufactures about 80% of the 155mm shells produced each month (11,040 / 14,000)

Evangelical beliefs about the “end times” are hilarious, some day I should write up an effort post all about it. I wish more people knew about it. I was raised premillenial dispensationalist in particular, AMA.

All because of one book that barely made it into the Bible, written by some hopped up dude who could barely write Greek, and was not really taken literally until a couple centuries ago. And when you take it literally you come up with some real crazy shit, y’all don’t even know the half of it.

I distinctly remember a story on like Oct 8 or 9, where it was claimed that the Resistance had assets in the IOF and the Israeli security apparatus. It was implied that some of these assets genuinely felt sympathy for the cause and/or disillusionment with the Zionist project. Maybe Hamas had blackmail, too.

Saw that story once in the mega and never heard about it after that, so maybe nothing though.

Probably my least favorite part of the whole series.

I guess I shouldn’t be mad because I’m sure this pic was just staged and the chainsaw isn’t on, but it’s still bad because it sends the message that people cut down trees like this. Chainsaws are death machines, they really want to sever your limbs and kill you. At a minimum, you need a helmet, eye protection, gloves, and leggings that prevent you from sawing off your legs, and even then you really need more. This is like seeing a pic of someone riding a motorcycle with no helmet and wearing shorts and flip flops.

I really think a lot of it is that people aren’t aware of how dangerous this stuff is. And when they are aware, they often write it off as “fear-mongering”.

I think a lot of older US Americans don’t want to acknowledge how shitty everything is right now largely thanks to capitalism. Admitting that this whole system sucks - a system that they have benefited tremendously from their whole lives - probably feels akin to renouncing a religion to them.

Entirely anecdotal, but I have quite a few conservative folks in my social circle, and I don’t think any of the ones under 40 are particularly supportive of “israel” (not the same as pro-Palestine, but still) and definitely not in favor of putting the US military in harm’s way to defend “israel”.

I have as much pity for the average Israeli as I do for fucking Hitler.
