While this particular brainworm affects not just Americans, it seems that white Americans seem to have the most acute case of it. And older Americans much more than younger ones. I think it has two main causes. One is that older, white Americans have basically had zero friction in their lives. They think everything will work out because everything has worked out pretty great for them. I think there’s also the thing at play here where these people don’t want to actually support policies that would help the situation, either because their taxes will go up or because that means they would have to support politics different from what they’ve supported their whole lives.

To extent that young people say this, I think it’s just a way to be polite without admitting that yeah shit sucks I don’t have any answers either.

It’s bullshit in that Hamas won’t be finished off. Both in a real sense in that there are many, many Resistance fighters who will survive and in the “how do you kill an idea” sense. The goal of Oct 7, I believe, was to break the Israeli sense of security and expose them for the paper tigers they are, and in that the Resistance has already been wildly successful. I do believe that regardless of the outcome of Rafah, Israeli civil society will tear itself apart. And whether that’s soon or off in the future, it’s gonna happen and when it does I believe the Resistance will be ready.

What is unfortunately true is that the IOF is going to commit further genocide in Rafah.

But let’s be real, “israel” knows they won’t end Hamas and I don’t think they even care. Their goal is to so deeply terrorize the population of Gaza that the people there never even contemplate rising up again. That, or they are just taking out revenge killings on civilians, probably a little of both.

A reminder that “low birth rates bad” is false, at least by itself. It’s bad for capitalists (who need constant economic growth) and for welfare systems operating under capitalism. What’s bad is if there’s people who want a family but can’t afford it.

A declining population under socialism isn’t a problem so long as people are having as many or as little kids as they want.

Hey so if I want to go beyond just a KN95, what’s a good mask I can like, right now?

It’s going to be even worse because Trump and the GOP will try and outdo Biden’s racism, which will cause Biden to go even further, and so on

So many libs on the r/music thread about this are all “this song is really good but the part about not voting for Biden is DANGEROUS”

I’m not very familiar with Macklemore. But just because he’s a celebrity I assumed the lyrics would be supportive and good, but still short of the kind of righteous indignation that’s deserved. Well… I was wrong. Idk judge for yourself but most of the lyrics - other than there’s no “Death to America” - are sentiments you’d see on hexbear. Christ on a bike this is a good song.

Hasan brought up a good point on his stream earlier. The “safe zone” is like 20 km from Rafah. That is not an easy hike to make quickly for a young person in good health. Now consider how much harder it is for an elderly person, a child, or someone who is injured. And that’s before considering that Gazans have been living in famine conditions for a while now. As a parent, even as a matter of life and death, I don’t think my little kids could walk 20 km in the timeframe the IOF is demanding.

This is inhuman evil. The Zionist entity is truly on an eye-to-eye standing with the Nazis, and all their enablers like the US are with them too. Death to “israel” and death to America.

and I trust Sinwar's and Nasrallah's judgement.

Yes. As much as we all (myself included) really wanted Hezbollah to jump in back in October, it seems like their strategy to now has been effective in sapping the IOF’s strength and forcing them to keep one eye on the north this whole time.

I will trust Nasrallah’s judgement even beyond this because I have no doubt the man would give his own life for Palestine if he could. But I will say, I don’t see the strategic value in holding out now. Because bombing and ethnic cleansing Rafah really is a Rubicon to cross. I’m not sure what other red line is left other than openly forcing Gazans into the Sinai or on boats to wherever.

I suppose it’s possible that what we have seen so far really is the limit that Hezbollah can extend itself with the resources and obligations it currently has.

If this person had to the live the life of a Palestinian refugee in Lebanon or Syria, they would be in tears and having a breakdown within an hour.

I could use some more Telegram news follows. I currently follow Mint Press, Red Stream, Resistance News, Middle East Spectator, and teleSUR. Rybar too but they are a mixed bag.

I have a friend who’s my age (early 40s) who just last week repeated the “cat litter boxes in school bathrooms are required now” myth. I asked where he saw that and of course it was Facebook…
