The kind Vladimir Ilyich would have shot everyone in the room…

Kanaky is I think largely: indigenous people want independence, and white French settlers want to remain a part of France. New election law will tip the scales towards pro-France because it enfranchises people who have moved there in recent years, which is largely French transplants.
Birthright is more like a timeshare sales presentation - they’re trying to sell Jewish kids on moving there. This is more like “getting people exposed to other cultures is good, maybe Americans will be way less maniacal towards us if they just come over here and see how we’re all just people”.
On top of that, they really were used as a way to gauge the sentiment of the people. They did actual, normal “information gathering”. And even then, the Stasi had nowhere near the information on you that Google and Facebook do now.
But yeah, unless you were a fascist, a capitalist reader, or a suspected western intelligence asset, you basically had nothing to worry about.
It’s a few days old but I didn’t see it posted yet… but Yves has a really good analysis of the Israeli economic situation. I’ll try and hit some of the highlights below:
The occupation of Palestine is an exploitative endeavor. That plan was summarized by Moshe Dayan, Israel’s defense minister during the June 1967 war, which resulted in the occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, describing the territories as: “…a supplementary market for Israeli goods and services on the one hand, and a source of factors of production, especially unskilled labor, for the Israeli economy on the other.”
Colonialism 101
There are more than 200,000 Palestinian laborers, including those without permits, who work inside Israel and the occupied West Bank. Netanyahu’s government has resolved to replace them with other laborers who can be exploited – a massive proposed influx from countries like India and Sri Lanka.
Israel realizes how important super-exploited Palestinian labor is, but we’re also at a stage of fascism where they may simply not allow any Palestinian workers back in. And if you think the racist af Israeli society is gonna be cool with a few hundred thousand Indian or Bangladeshi workers showing up all of the sudden, well… I don’t see that happening. Will be fascinating to see how this contradiction plays out.
Along with exploiting Palestinian labor, Israel tests out surveillance, population control, and military technology on the captive population… [Antony Loewenstein’s] book, “The Palestine Laboratory: How Israel Exports the Technology of Occupation Around the World”, which was published in May 2023, details how Israel sells its technology and weapons all over the world (about 130 countries in 2021) in order to support its economy and curry favor from other nations that will help it continue to deflect criticism from its treatment of Palestinians. Israel benefits from having a captive population on whom to constantly test its weapons and surveillance technology.
The surveillance and defense industries are a big driver of the Israeli economy, but hopefully Oct 7 put a long term dent in their reputation.
There are economic goals to Israel’s current policy in Gaza. If we’re talking about plunder, we cannot forget that there’s a modern colonial twist of beachfront condos to consider.
Yves is of course correct here, that eventually Israel wants to own all of Gaza and exploit it both for the real estate aspects and the offshore gas. But I happen to that that’s more of the long term plan, I think their current focus is to slowly take over the West Bank first and then move on to Gaza.
Honestly that just reads like a bot reply or a copy & paste job at least
Honestly yeah, I think Europe will burn before they allow Türkiye in. And tbf I think the Turks gave up on the goal of joining the EU like 15-20 years ago. Not to say Europe won’t give Türkiye massive concessions, but allowing Turkish citizens to freely live in the EU is probably a huge red line for 90% of white Europeans.
The Amish are known for being pretty terrible to puppies, honestly maybe worse than your standard puppy mill.
I have actually learned some things reading the comments here
Married to either Don Jr or Eric, not sure which and it doesn’t really matter anyway. She recently replaced Romney’s daughter in law as the head of the RNC.
