Omg, thank you so much for this - I had no idea!

I love that man... Someone should make a Lemmy community for discussions of his videos.
I worked midnight to 8am as a security supervisor at a hospital. It was nice in some ways and awful in other ways. Honestly, all the ways it was awful occurred outside of the actual shift itself. It was harder to hang out with friends, I was always tired, I had to try to get tired and sleep while it was sunny out (blackout curtains and sunglasses on the drive home ftw), and the world was waking up while I was going to bed. It was hard on my relationship with my wife.
The shift itself was pretty great actually. The hospital was quieter at night. As a supervisor, I did have some issues with my guards falling asleep at desks or trying to hide and take naps. Two people got fired over it. But most of them were pretty good. One guy fell asleep while driving the patrol vehicle and crashed it into a gate. That was embarrassing for everyone and he ultimately lost his job (he didn't admit to falling asleep, but we all suspected it - he was working two jobs and was perpetually tired). The best thing about the job was sneaking up onto the roof early in the morning on my patrols and watching the sun rise.
Not being able to open image in new tab and download them anymore has made it functionally useless for me.
Women want me.

Wait, didn't you hear? You must be part of the lucky 10,000! Scientists discovered last year that dogs under 35ish pounds are actually classified as birds!
Thank you for calling attention to this! I've been trying to raise awareness about why people should avoid lemmy.ml like the plague. My first post on Lemmy was on this thread created by the same person that made the post you linked to. I had noticed the mod action they called out where someone was banned for posting an Axios article about the Chinese succession plan for the reason of "Orientalism". I appreciate that Lemmy is decentralized and that at the end of the day your server admin matters first and foremost, but I do really hope the views of those top devs never lead to problems with the software itself. At least it's all open source and they would be called out if they ever tried anything shady.
This isn't necessarily always true. PCSX2, the main PS2 emulator, for example needs a BIOS file that can only be obtained from an actual PS2 (or "illegally"). I'm not sure why that emulator requires it when others don't. The closest thing to an explanation I could find online just said "legal issues", but didn't go into details. That makes me suspect that there was pushback from Sony about the emulator. So if such emulation laws were to be written they absolutely should protect in stone the right to create and use emulators. If a company can find a loophole to block you, they will.
Importantly, how does she feel about Eggo Waffles?
I've just stopped unsubscribing from email lists these days and instead I mark them as spam on Gmail so that Gmail can identify what they are for everyone else. Saw an article a while back with political fundraiser people begging people to stop marking them as spam and its just like, that's what happens when you keep subscribing me to new lists I never signed up for after I unsubscribe from the ones I'm on. If I go out of my way to inform you that email spam won't convince me to donate (which I do plenty of on my own without prompting) then you should listen to me.
LENNY!!!
My wife went to school for English lit and is a professional writer. I cannot get a plot twist past her notice. It sucks so much. There was a video game that featured a serial killer (no spoilers, so no title) and I NEVER would have guessed who it was. I played it and I was shocked at the twist. Then I had my wife play it and in the first five minutes of the game she was like "That man is evil and I don't trust him" and I was like WTF!!!!! He's like nice and friendly and stuff. How the fuck does she do it. I spent hours having to gaslight her about how correct her prediction was. She also always knows when someone is going to die. I have to tell her not to comment predictions about movies because she's correct at least 70% of the time.
