I'm going to ignore the most heinous aspects of this and just say, I'd love to be introduced to a variety of venomous and non-venomous snakes and would likely find it to be a pretty cool experience. Snakes are neat and the venomous ones are often beautiful and fascinating.

Just an opinion, but I feel like trouble was on the horizon for Target regardless of this DEI fiasco.

Of the major online general retailers, it seemed like Target held out the longest against 3rd party sellers. That was one of the biggest reasons I preferred to buy from Target. But they caved on that and somehow came out with one of the worst implementations. That decision really tarnished their brand for me.

Another factor that made me favor Target over the years is that their clothing offerings were pretty decent quality in styles I liked and affordable prices. But the last few times I've purchased clothes from Target, it's been outright junk and Target should be ashamed. Either way, it turned me off from buying clothes there, and by extension, soured me to the brand almost entirely.

By the end of 2024 I had basically given up on Target, and I can't help but think that all the issues I was having were systemic to the company. Feels like preemptively caving on diversity and equity policies was just another sign of the actual problem the company is facing (i.e. bad management and poor decision making).

MY new Tesla? Doubt it. Considering I'm unemployed due to this clown administration and I don't tend to upgrade much of anything, let alone a vehicle, unless/until the old one no longer functions.

Sorry for being very busy and also kind of poor and also for living about 45 minutes away from the closest movie theater but even further away from one that doesn't completely suck. Also sorry for being incredibly disappointed the past several times I tried to watch something in the theater which left a bad impression that made me less apt to repeat the experience regardless of whether it's an original movie or not. Similarly, I'm very sorry that most of the movies I had even thought about going to the theater to see turned out to be movies that after seeing them in the comfort of my own home, I would have been kinda upset at myself and the universe in general if I had paid movie theater prices to see them.

The jokes based on formal logic trend as of late go something like "The fact that there is a tuna fish implies the existence of a threena fish". And most of them are simply horribly tragic.

It hasn't been every company I've worked for, but this has been a common theme throughout my life...

The more the executives brag about how good the company is doing and about its financial strength, the more likely it is that a serious downturn is on the horizon.

I just personally experienced it again, too. End of 2024, record number of projects awarded. Billions in new government contracts. Hiring frenzy. February 2025. 90% of those contracts cancelled. Mass layoffs.

Prior job: Record sales each year. Fastest growing business in the region in our niche and for our size. Always supposedly on the verge of buying our own office building, a skyscraper no less. Within a year of me leaving, they ran into trouble (not related to my departure in any way and I had no idea there would be such a significant downturn). No layoffs, but conditions got so bad that people left far faster than they could be replaced, until things stabilized at about 1/3 of the peak number of employees.

So all I'm saying is, if your employer is feeding you the story that they've had record profits, prepare yourself for the incoming storm.

Don't forget to condemn the local homeless guy for asking you to spare some change while he also happens to own a cellphone.

For me, there's a uniquely difficult to find and ever changing line between not caffeinated enough to notice and "oh my god why is everything buzzing now I can't think straight" when it comes to caffeine. Doesn't matter if I'm drinking coffee, tea, or any other caffeinated drink. One sip too much and suddenly my ears are twitching uncontrollably, my heart is racing, and I can't focus on anything productive. One day a cup of coffee is the sweet spot, the next day it's two. Day three a glass of tea will throw me for a loop.
