I don’t think the QBs in this draft are necessarily better than fields so you’re essentially using a top 5 pick to get a rookie contract.

I’d prefer to have Fields experience and a new HC/OC than a rookie contract with a new OC/HC.

The new guy might be the next Sam Darnold so the rookie contract doesn’t help.

That has much more to do with where they want/need the public money and not about what his actual ranking is
