In my defence, I today did NOT buy a sticker saving that we need to save the planet. Because it's stupid spending resources on something only to show of how you care for the planets resources. So I do my part :-/

Where was the community going and why is it better here?

So closing a bridge down for a day caused "public chaos" because some people are late to work and justifies three years in prison.

When the next wildfire, storm, flooding, heatwave etc. causes the public to be late to work (or, you know, lose their homes of even die), I fully expect the politicians and corporations that let this happens knowingly to serve at the very least a similar sentence.

No worries, I'll ask again in a couple of years ;-)

Soooo you found the time yet?

[–] Gloomy@mander.xyz 2 points 2 years ago

It takes about ~30 years to see the effects of emissions on the climate

This is a long debunked myth.

Here is an article that goes into some detail.

https://www.carbonbrief.org/explainer-will-global-warming-stop-as-soon-as-net-zero-emissions-are-reached/

So there is some hope, if we can stop emoting CO2 ASAP. If one finds that a realistic path to belive in on the other hand is a matter of opinion.

This we can agree on :-)

Which is true, but renewelables have easily been able to cover the loos of the last remnants of nuclear energy Germany has in 2022. Towards the end (when the arrive in question was written) nuclear made up 6.5 % of the German energy mix. It's ridiculous to think that the drop out could have caused any shortages. Renewables are growing faster atm than ever before and are able to cover the growth in energy demand almost completely.

Lol, an article from 2022? That brings up risks like an energy shortage, which just didn't happen? Realy?

[–] Gloomy@mander.xyz 5 points 2 years ago

Possible yes. But is it likely?

Isn't it talking about it here?

As light travels through the Universe, it interacts with the matter within it, and with electrons in particular. (Remember, light is an electromagnetic wave!) If the light is polarized in a radially-symmetric fashion, that’s an example of an E-mode (electric) polarization; if the light is polarized in either a clockwise or counterclockwise fashion, that’s an example of a B-mode (magnetic) polarization. Detecting polarization, on its own, isn’t enough to show the existence of super-horizon fluctuations, however.

Also, it is long, yes, but it doesn't repeat itself like most Ai written articles. I'd say the author is just taking their time to spell the concept our in detail. Could have been said quicker and more efficient, I'll agree on that tough.
