That's very sweet of you, though I would never in a million years compare myself to our bank-robbing uncle [or his metal deposits, as the case may be].

Of course, I agree with all your other comments, though I don't remember who Aru is unless they were the one who made the Arabic lesson posts (which I thought were cool the couple of times I read them).

Outsiders? OUTSIDERS? The Prime Minister of Israel is literally from Philadelphia. They are the 51st state. Israel is an American military base with some decorations on top. It's like saying America should not interfere with South Korea vs. North Korea. A bit late for that!

Yeah, and even if you want to make a much softer claim, most of the demands by Americans are not that "Israel must stop doing this or that" (though they openly want this, and for good reason), but rather that "The US must stop funding Israel so long as Israel continues to do this or that," which is exactly the sort of thing that literally the most philistine Politics Understander should be able to concede is reasonable for Americans to demand of the American government.

Your harder claim is also completely correct, but I think it's worth pointing out since some people would make an undue fuss about it.

I and all my leftist friends support nobody. This is a turf war between bloods and crips - both groups represent ideas antithetical to a leftist worldview, and I have no idea how people support either.

Like do you back the nationalist government that refuses universal human rights or the folks who are basically a caliphate army with no country?

Hopefully this bloodletting can stop someday - but it's not going to - so why bother taking a side for moral reasons?

The only approach we can take as outsiders is back the regional coalitions we already back and avoid escalating.

Reading his writing, this dude was plainly a revisionist

Good riddance, Beehaw is terrible. It was maybe the single biggest exporter of concern-trolling about lemmy.ml and to my knowledge still entertains absurdly reactionary comms for no reason (though I haven't brushed up on my lore in a while). Go make your blue Raddle.

More constructively: Having your "Northern Star" be "intentionally vague" is not a good practice. Having clear rules is a much better way to avoid falling into "what did the mod who reviewed the report feel like doing at the time?" arbitration issues. If you want to serve disenfranchised communities well,* then have that be the foundation and clearly define what that means and why you are doing it.

*My experience with this was that Beehaw was more about first world radlibs patting themselves on the back, but I digress

You will almost certainly be put on a watchlist, but there's a good chance you're already on one anyway (and a watchlist is not a no-fly list, except in cases that don't apply here short of you posting about blowing up Guantanamo Bay), so go for it!

My hope is that they are just making some commentary on how the liberals in charge of modern South Africa have subverted the process of reparations, making their attacks on another apartheid state a little odd, but that's my completely baseless headcanon of what those Hexbears are trying to say

That doesn't answer the question without the inclusion of your age

Refreshing to see someone here write an actual argument instead of hurdling insults.

Shut the fuck up, you aggrieved piece of shit. This is what they were responding to:

I'm a leftist, but I dont understand why people keep dickriding the soviet union, people were poor and a lot of people were killed and sent to Siberia, like my grand uncles. Most people who praise the soviet union never lived it.

Stop defending a fake socialist state that is long gone, and work towards a better future according to your ideologies!

i.e., low-effort flaming, and you talk like it's unthinkable people would respond in kind. Do you often make a habit of lecturing strangers on politeness after you walk up and spit on them?

In the eyes of liberal historiographers, every criminal in the USSR, every fascist collaborator, every petty-bourgeois tyrant becomes a victimized innocent who Stalin personally killed because he had a Tourette Syndrome where his tics were murder and kidnapping. There is no other reason anyone could possibly be put by the government in a place they wouldn't like to be in the context of a civil war or a genocidal invasion.

Go fuck yourself, go back to masturbating about syndicates and, on the off-off chance that you succeed, prepare to have ten million other shitheads like you declare that you aren't a real socialist because anticommunists told them you aren't.

Most people praise the Soviet Union never lived in it because the vast, vast majority of people who commented on it never lived in it. Most people who attack it never lived in it by the same token. However, most of the people who lived in it for any meaningful length of time praise it, as survey after survey produces (see other responses in this thread).

I was going to say, it's been known for a long time that it's around 1%, this isn't new information, and while we should take seriously the issues of de-trans (not anti-trans) people and what about the process caused them issues, ~1% regret rate is impressively low for something like this.

Not the answer you are looking for, but I think the world is generally getting better. What is getting worse is life in the imperial core, which has been rotting for a long time now as western capitalists cannibalize their own states to keep profit growth up. There are dangers associated with this for the rest of the world, and other places where things are also definitely getting worse (western Ukraine, Argentina, etc.), but I think for most of the population, besides the mounting threat of the US starting World War II 2, things look okay.
