That's a bad way to look at it asking for warning signs. Don't neglect your teeth and gums, get them fixed up as soon as possible. This should be a priority since it can kill you and in the mean time it hurts and the longer you wait the more extreme the solution becomes (fill cavity, then a crown, then a root canal which sucks super fucking badly).
