I personally haven't messed around with streaming games, so I'm afraid I don't have much advice to give there. In addition to the native Steam streaming there are alternate streaming options like moonlight (if you have a nvidia graphics card) that might give a better quality stream.
Reventure is an absolute joy to play through, I highly recommend you try it out when you get a chance.

Since you're somewhat new, here's some general advice for having a good experience with unusual games:
For games that don't run well, be sure to check protonDB to see if there's any known fixes for issues.
As far as controls go, when a game doesn't play well with a controller, you'll want to check community control layouts. There are usually some really good layouts that make playing much more viable, even if it can't compete fully with mouse and keyboard.
Did the last update help much? It was largely performance focused but I haven't heard much about how significant the improvements are.
There was also an issue where the game would launch to a black screen, requiring a touch on the touchscreen to continue. I think there was a follow up OS update that was supposed to fix that.
Unfortunately I don't know of any fixes beyond those.
You need to be on Proton Experimental or GE-Proton.
Are you trying to configure the back buttons in steam input, or in the game's controller settings? I'd definitely recommend setting them up in steam input if the latter.
You could set the back buttons to work as keyboard keys that trigger flashlight/etc when using a keyboard and mouse. This is assuming there isn't a controller button for it already.
I like the Killers a lot, but this song isn't my favorite thing they've done. I really enjoyed their sound on Imploding the Mirage and Pressure Machine, and this song is definitely a step away from those albums.
It'll run well on a more power PC with AMD graphics card. Nvidia is currently borked.
Paramount plus has Nickelodeon, so it's actually pretty good if you have kids.
I only have it because it comes included with Walmart+, but it's gotten more use than I ever expected it would.
