Are you against systems like Deep Rock Galactic's battle pass?

The battle pass is free, and after the season ends anything you didn't earn through the pass is added into the regular item rewards in the game, so you don't miss anything by not finishing the pass.

I used to think I was against battle passes as well, but after trying deep rock's i realized I just don't like predatory monetization and feeling punished for not playing.

Cost analysis estimates I've seen have them also taking a small loss on 256GB units, only making a profit on 512GB units.

They didn't have official data though, they were mostly working backwards from taking the ifixit part costs and assuming ifixit used their standard markup.

I haven't been following the Diablo news. Initial reviews were pretty good, what happened?

Anytime you have people living in dense, highly populated areas it will make nearby land a premium. High demand for land (and the resulting high prices) will result in high rent and high cost of living.

I'm not really sure how to fix this. You could have some government managed system for what businesses get the high demand land, but that will result in less popular stores being in the best locations and greatly incentivize corruption as businesses want highly profitable locations that can only be granted by politicians.

If you're talking about disconnecting during coop, you need to manually sync two .dll files. Here's a guide I made on it.

There's a volume mixer extension for Decky that might let you fix muted applications from desktop mode.

Here's the actual guide and tweaks that's being benchmarked by Phoronix.

I honestly think crypto (as a currency, not an investment opportunity) has real useful potential. A non-government controlled form of money that can be used internationally and privately is actually really useful. Problem is everyone started buying into it as a pyramid scheme investment instead of buying into it for its value as a form of currency. Blockchain has some other uses too, I know some privacy focused apps use it for syncing user privately.

AI also has great potential, it can do things that were otherwise not possible with modern tech. It's definitely not as efficient as the other methods, but that's a moot point when regular computer systems aren't capable of something and an AI system can.

Biggest issue with both is that they're a technology that's suited to specific things, but the "all-in on crypto" or "all-in-on-ai" approach is wasteful and causes a lot of problems along the way.

Yeah, there's definitely some parallels between how people negatively reacted to crypto and the current wave of reactions towards AI. My personal theory is that a lot of people are becoming hostile towards big tech, and anything that's seen as the next big thing in tech will quickly get negative reactions.

I've been on 3.5 for awhile, and they're working fine for me. I did have an issue where occasionally my TV would reset (go black for a second and then come back on), that I hadn't noticed before on previous SteamOS versions, but searching online makes it seem like that's a problem with Vizio TVs and 4k/HDR, not a SteamOS issue. I was able to duplicate the issue using a 4k Chromecast on the TV, and disabling HDR and capping the resolution below 4k completely fixed the issue when using the Deck with the TV.

It's very easy if you've done anything like this before. I would definitely follow a full guide, but the basic process is that you have to remove the microSD, take a few tiny screws out, pop the back open, unplug the battery, take a few more screws out, remove the heat shield, swap the SSD, and then put it back together.

After that you need to reinstall steamOS on the new drive, so you need a way to plug a USB drive into the deck (a dock, type-c adapter, or a type c USB drive). You can install the steamOS recovery software to it following the online instructions, boot the deck into bios with the USB drive plugged in, pick to boot off the USB drive, and then hit reinstall steamOS once the recovery desktop loads up.

Only part where I've seen people have problems is by stripping out the screws on the back of the deck. You have to make sure you are using an appropriately sized screw driver and that you have it fully inserted into the screw before turning. This usually isn't hard to do, but if you strip a screw it can be hard to remove it.

You can improve the screen without impacting performance. Larger screen, smaller bezels, better colors, OLED, matte finish (on cheaper models), better touch accuracy, etc.
