I feel like that's less of a democracy issue, and more of an issue that people with power will use that power for their own benefit.

I think that is partially what he's saying. When you price a game at $70, it means that people will have higher expectations of it then a $20-40 game. You're even expected to justify why it's worth $10 more than a $60 game.

So you have all these AAA games that had huge budgets, and are being priced at $70, but because of the budget it's highly risky for the company if it fails. But the high price also means higher expectations, and high expectations/hype will sink a game if it doesn't live up to those expectations.

Basically you can sell a game for $30, and people will enjoy it for what it is. Sell a game for $70 and it better be perfect.

281GB

That's huge, I'm guessing we'll need to use a giant swap file?

No to seeing the edges from the middle, I've been to Kansas and couldn't spot the edges.

As for the shape, my theory is more like a pizza with a thick crust. I haven't been able to verify though, NASA keeps rejecting my proposals for investigating further.

Centrifugal force moves the Earth's mass outwards, so it's thick at the edges and thin in the middle.

It may be ready, I haven't tried their latest version. Most of the functionality was there, but it had some rough spots. I've been meaning to go back and try daily driving it again.

I think that's what BlendOS is working towards. You might keep an eye on them.

This is one of the better sales I've seen on it, really tempted to get it finally.

I'm sure there are some community control layouts for it that will provide decent controls.

I don't know if you can find a legal download of it, but you could buy a used disc copy on ebay. That won't support the original devs in any way, but it's legal.

From what I've seen, you'll need to download the unofficial patch and install it using Protontricks (available on the Discover store).

  • Run protontricks
  • select VTMB (it may not show up if it's on a microSD, you'll either need to use flatseal (from Discover) to let protontricks access your microSD or move the game to internal storage
  • select the default wineprefix
  • Run explorer
  • Navigated the files to the Z: drive and locate your downloads folder or where ever you downloaded the patch
  • Run the patch and install as normal

After that, run the game with the launch options: -full -width 1280 -height 800 -game Unofficial_Patch

Unfortunately, I don't own the game, so I can't promise this is all working. Some guides from a year ago have been updated to say they're broken now. If you do all that but the game isn't working well, try older versions of Proton (Mostly 6 & 7) and see if they work any better.

there are a few Windows games running on Linux via Steam Play (Proton), that [the previous vm.max_map_count] limit can actually be exceeded -- DayZ, Hogwarts Legacy, Counter Strike 2, and other games.

Sounds good, especially if Ubuntu, Fedora, and other distros have already made this change. Are there any downsides to raising this value?
